Is this a good PVP / PVM build?
STR 100
DEX 90
INT 35
Anatomy - 100
Healing - 100
Mace Fighting - 100
Tactics - 100
Magery - 100
Resist Magic - 100
Hiding - 100
I'll be using a Quarterstaff most of the time.
Any criticism please?
Will I get destroyed 1 on 1 vs a warrior or 1 on 1 vs a mage?
If I remember correctly, I got steam rolled by warriors without parry during T2A.
Thanks for the help.

Hiding is fine for PvM, not that useful for PvP unless you like to run when you're low on health (in which case, it's actually quite spectacular).
Parry isn't a very good skill unfortunately. There really are no warrior PvPers. Everyone's a straight up classic tank mage.
Don't forget, you get another 5 stat points.

Re: Is this a good PVP / PVM build?
If you're gonna GM Magery, you want Swords. Halberds far surpass Quarterstaves for mages.
With 40 int, you'll have very little mana to burn on spells, and healing is a bad choice as a mage. With the Heal/Greater Heal spells, you don't need it. And without eval int, your spell damage will be laughable.
Try this build.
100 Str.
50 Dex.
75 Int.
Tweak your stats until you find your comfort point. Too little dex and your swing speed will be terrible. Too little int and you'll never have enough mana for combat.
100 Swords.
100 Tactics.
100 Magery.
100 Eval int.
100 Meditation.
100 Resist Spells.
Those are the core skills you would need, with 100 points remaining. You could take Anatomy to increase your damage with a hally.
Just my thoughts.

Yeah.. I wasn't trying to make a tank mage. Anywayssss..
I used this build on Divinity and it did quite well on tank mages.
Does Mace Fighting sap stamina here?
I imagine I can get a cure / 2 great heals off with 35 mana.
and 90 dex isn't harmful.
P.S. - Hiding rules.

Yes, and it damages armor with a successful hit.machu wrote:Yeah.. I wasn't trying to make a tank mage. Anywayssss..

Unfortunately, most PvPers don't wear armor.

I'll see how my current template plays out.
If it fails, I'll just roll a tank mage. =X
Edit: I have one more question. Can anatomy be raised through combat?

Re: Is this a good PVP / PVM build?
Your initial template looks good, the one below it is sort of a tank mage with gimpy stats, I wouldnt recommend that at all. The whole point of a tank is to take advantage of the 2 second refreshes, so more than 25 dex is a waste. If I were you I would ditch hiding for either meditation or wrestling.
Wrestle so you can recall/cast through things attacking you, this is helpfull when your trapped by monsters, or a dexer type pk is on you. It will also allow you to use mini-heals and cure (with your low int and no med even) coupled with healing to wait out the hally-mage pks debuffs until you can get a wall of stone up and recall, or just recall outright.
Meditation is a good 7th skill if you like transportation. Magery is great with meditation with 35 int even, you can spam mini heal with the best of them with gm meditation, even without high int.
A dexer with parry will roll you in a dex vs dex battle, but you stand a pretty good shot against tank mages if you can stick to them and prevent them from getting their hally hits. (yes attack-last spam).
Hiding is pretty good for pvm, if you like to go afk or while waiting for something to die (from an EV or whatever), but since it's a dexer I would just get parry, med or wrestle.
If you want to do well against high level mobs (lich lords and such), parry is a must. Unless you want to be running around trying to heal all the time.

ROFL. Now that I think about it, I had wrestling on my dexxer on Divinity, not hiding. However, Hiding is just so sexyyy and it doesn't take but a couple seconds to cast a spell.

100 str
80 dex
45 int
Mace fighting
Tactics
Anatomy
healing
magery 50
Resist 90
Parry 80
Wrestling 80
Sounds good to me as long as you equip a sheild and a one handed melee, not so much a Quarter staff. If you want to drop the sheild and parry switch it for hiding. Usually rogue characters and Gankers benefit the most from hiding though.

I am ditching hiding before I start it. I just realized how much it sucked trying to cast Recall without wrestling.

70 Hiding/ 30 magery
If you want hiding and still have some magic casting ability this a good build. You can cast blade spirits and other lvl 5 spells with a scroll. <sometimes you fizzle>
As for your last skill, that depends on your play style.
You could go with parry if you want to be able to fight warriors in PvP. Or go with archery or a second fighting skill for PvP/PvM purposes.
If you want more mana to cast heals you can drop dex 85 to get 40 int. Then just rely on greater agility potions.

Re: Is this a good PVP / PVM build?
I have a Parry Macer now I just tweaked last night...and it seems like a good temp
I went with 95 strength...the reason why is that I have parry! 5 points is a drop in the bucket
I went 80 dex...as a macer I cause stamina damage and 80 dex is plenty now I stay away from Platemail
Last I did 50 int...I can cast all the way to 8th circle in costs of mana, whether energy vortexes, summoned daemons,
or earthquakes...its good to have powerful magics or summons
For skills I went the basics...
Mace
Parry
Tactics
Anatomy
Healing
Mage
Resist
The only real difference was in stats you see? But almost everyone has 100 str...with parry it completely negates that drawback. Higher dex for a caster armsman is a definate plus. 5 points for dex does make more of a difference then 5 for strength.
And 50 int guarantees I can cast any spell I choose.
