PK Template

Post by chumbucket »

Anyone have any good templates for a pk on this shard? Would it be a standard tank mage or would stat loss force you to look at different options to minimize the chances of dying (even if that means less effective killing)?

Most common template would be:

Magery
Meditation
Evaluating Intelligence
Resisting Spells
Weapon Skill [Archery, Fencing, Macing, Swordsmanship]
Tactics
Wrestling

Ya this is a good template, personally I'd swap Wrestling for Anatomy to increase wep damage.

Hey Mr. T, I had fun playing with you and Murdock in Deceit last night. My dragons had fun as well. How was your stay on Dagger Isle?

I was hoping to see Faceman and Hannibal...

Yeah, that is the common cookie cutter 7x pvp template. If you are looking for a good fight and quality pvp I recommend that template. Not every "PK" template has to be the standard though, you can mix in other skills that might give you an advantage. One example is a stealth PK.

Hiding
Stealth
Magery
Eval Int
Archery(My favorite with insta-hit)
Tactics
and as mentioned before add Anatomy for the +20% damage

This template is high damage, low defense, so you hafta use the element of surprise to your advantage. Warning though, this template will probably get pwned by someone who is good with a 7x tank. Gotta catch them off their guard and do high damage with the insta hit. There are lots of other ways you can "PK" people other than fighting them 1v1 on the field with 7x tanks.

He meant use anat if you plan to just PK in the field, use wrestling if you plan to do 1v1 duels.

But I'm pretty sure you knew that and were just taking this opportunity to be a jackass.

This is one type of template that I was considering. I didn't want a standard PvP character, as I want to be red and so have to worry a lot about stat loss. The ideal would be a character that can kill but is even better at not dying. And I wouldn't be seeking out PvP types for battles exactly.

I'm thinking right now about:

Hide
Magery
Eval
Med
Wrest
Resist
And, yes, Tracking.

Why?

Well, to take a weapon i would have to drop not only tracking but some other skill. But given my stated goal of not dying it seems like the only other candidates for dropping (wrestling, resist and hiding) are essential to not dying. Eval, I suppose, is another candidate, but a dexer would, in my UO experience, not be good at getting the quick kills that I need. The idea is to avoid prolonged combat in favor of killing and getting the hell out so as not to incur stat loss ever. This is a crazy idea I guess, but it's what I'm shooting for ultimately. Tracking only because there is nothing else useful to go with the other 6 skills.

mabye just get tracking up to the point where you can track other players, then take another useful skill to 65-70, i forget the point in tracking where you can track other players

You assume you are well off enough to drop a player with only a spell combo..?

Well, I wouldn't attack obvious PvPers. I would mostly focus on PvM monster types who have their hands full with monsters. And if possible, run in a group. The element of surprise is crucial, especially alone. But, yeah, I don't know. This is still very much theoretical until I get more gold...

It depends on how you want to play him. The templates listed above are all a good place to start and then you can switch out a few skills based on your play style. It's always good to have 100 magery and 100 magic resist though. Swapping out med/anat for hiding can also be a really fun way to play an assasin. :)

As assassian cannot be played on a server without etherals, can't chase your opponent down on foot..
