So here I logon, after a long spread of not playing, thinking I would enjoy myself this morning, and the server keeps crashing?
What gives!? Why isn't the server saving and each time I log back on after the crash I am taken to where I was 15 minutes beforehand?
If orcish hoardes was causing the crashes, why was it reinstituted?

Derrick,
You and I know that if it is indeed "network problems" the server would not reset me to where I was 15 minutes beforehand.
If it was a network problem, the connection would simply time out, the RunUO process would not know the difference.
This definately indicates a crash, unless you yourself took down the server and restarted it when you noticed the client time outs, but that wouldn't explain why you wouldn't do a save beforehand.

If it was a network problem, causing everyone to disconnect, I'm sure they would revert back to the last save rather than have a few hundred people coming on saying "how did the monsters kill me while i was disconnected?

"

honestly, if you have been here for a year or more, dont have any gold coins under your name, and are b1tching about RARE server problems on a free shard then i dont know what to tell you...
Life sucks, get a helmet?
and i dont want this to sound like donating entitles people to b1tch about it either...
You have enjoyed this shard for a year plus for free!!!! Think about that.
gimmi a break.

It was a crash, I thought that was understood, sorry if I didn't elaborate. By network or memory, I mean network driver, or memory error. This was a windows kernel crash, there was no further info.

I got pked before one of the crashes. It was sweet. I kept my 6 regs gathered from the ground AND my mount! More crashes I say.

Honestly, Derrick shouldn't even have to explain himself or the crashes.
And posting with a title "is this a joke" makes you look and sound like an entitled little bitch who needs his Ultima fix WAY too bad. get life and apologize/thank Derrick for the services he provides to hundreds of people for FREE.
Thanks Derelique

I appreciate the understanding.
I really do regret the time that gets lost when we have incidents like this, but this and any shard is a hugely complicated beast, and in the end has a solitary developer trying to get us closer to the T2A era by seriously perverting many of the distro RunUO systems. We do our best to fully test everything, but often conflicts don't show up until well after publish; due to the nature of random player action, it's very difficult to fully test everything in a test enviornment.
As such, everyone on this shard should consider themselves a beta tester, and not be surprised if there are issues.
However in our 19 month history our longest revert has been two hours, and there has never been a reported case of serious system or data flaw that adversely effected a player. (except for the morning I accidently decayed all the house on the shard because I forgot what year it was, we had to revert)
