this is horse dung ..

I have now wasted my time twice in an effort to bid on horse dung .. to only have the seller back out after auction once and before auctioned ended once .. is it just me or should people not be able to do this .. there was a min price for auction and no reserve placed other then min bid .. you should not be able to decide after you posted and people are bidding (more then one at that) (and larger then your min bid) back out .. i think this should be a form of a scamming though not as serious as pure scam .. his post did waste my time and effort .. and not only that .. it (the postings {both of htem}) were removed so that this posters withdraw might be totally forgotten .. at least nox when he did this to me didn't try and remove his post and thus track record ..

i think this is just shady business and these people if nothing else should not be able to back out of auction and then remove post as to erase their wrong doing to others..

any other thoughts??

hey i guess i'm like us govt. once ya waste why stop .. lol but really post was more to repost that said player backed out on an auction so that players can better assess if they would like to do business with this player .. seeing poster had to go out of their way to remove both post (topics) about this auction

If the seller did this one time I don't see it as a big deal. If the same guy is doing this over and over again, then it is only a matter of time until 90% of the shard won't waste their time trying to do business with him.

This is the same problem we have been dealing with all month, There are some people who refuse to do a logical, and fair auction. Its by-passing the scam rules and just terrable buisness.

just a let down for forums .. i post alot .. but have only bid serious in two auctions .. both for dung .. both was leading np it seemed .. watching intently .. then one ends and the seller isn't log on for a week it seems then decided not to sell .. this time i go to check on my bid .. and i can't find the posting .. HUH ... i check my postings .. nothing .. how ever the old thread that seller had started with but moved to another ..were i first started posting/bidding .. was still there so i messaged poster and waited .. then i posted in old thread to bring up the missing thread and within a few mins that thread in deleted as well .. at this point i think i'm going crazy .. but nope seller poster is just removing all traces of their back out .. wtf .. how is this allowed?

I'm not sure what the best way to resolve something like this would be, I don't think forbidding of editing posts in the trade forums would work either, but I'd love to hear recommendations on this.

At face value though my thoughts are that people might often be not happy with the results of an auction and desire to pull the item, the concept of a secret reserve bid (ebay) comes to mind.

would that not be the min. bid .. maybe a new section in trade section for "min" bid auction .. illegal to pull out unless min isn't met .. you can edit body .. but not say subject .. or another set field with min price??

* edit* ps ebay posting now charge you do they not .. and for more for pics min bids res. etc .. so not a good place to take our auction rules from imho

I've been waiting a long time for a decent rep system mod for phpbb3 to come out, which would alievate a lot of the trade issues.

Aye, this is the one I was hoping someone would finish. It's still "in development" and the original author is gone, I didn't read all 86 pages, but from what I did read, it didn't look too stable. I'm pretty nervous about this board and beta mods, but possibly I could give it a test spin on another board.

Derrick, is there a way to disable the ability to delete posts only in the trading forum? What about banning users only from posting in the Trading Post forums?

My ideas for Trading Post section:
1.) Sticky post informing rules and penalties for scams and fraudulent auctions, that if a post is declared to be an auction with an actual start and end date, that it is a binding contract
2.) Disable ability to delete threads
3.) Disable ability to edit thread titles
4.) Players can use the current report system to flag bad sellers
5.) Warn then ban users who are reported from being able to create new threads in Trading Post section

I think just enabling number 2 and 3 would be sufficient though. People who bid on an auction and see the seller backout can just post in that thread to warn other users, and users who see new posts by sellers who back out can use the old posts as reference.
