Any parry users give me insight on how effective it is in pvp? More specifically, the chance to block or parry an attack agaisnt a dexer.
Edit: If the wiki is accurate, then It answers this post sufficently.
Edit- I found it. Article with Parry formula.

Arkosh,
I've seen the parry numbers in 'debug mode' on a saved version of the production shard played on the test center and Parry seems to work correctly. If you parry a blow, it takes 1/2 the damage away.
The chance to parry a blow is Parry Skill / 2 so, like most things, you can go through a slump or be lucky and have a nice run of parry.

how much damage you deflect depends on the AR of the shield

I'm sorry, you are correct. The 1/2 value I saw was the final damage modier of the combat formula.
The debugger would specify when Parry was implemented.

Ok, so someone explain this for my relaxed brain. How does parry work? It seems the wiki is incorrect, it says nothing of AR of shield.

When you are attacked, before you take any damage, there is a check to your parry skill.
Chance to parry = skill / 2 no matter which shield you use
From here, the AR will determine how much damage is parried when it fires off. If you go
here you can scroll down and see how much damage each shield will parry when it does. The remaining damage is then transferred to a piece of armor on your body, which will decide how much damage you take according to its own specific AR as well.
