Pets and commands

On many guides etc. it reccommends that you yell your pet commands for them to listen best. Currently a pet will listen quite far away without yelling, even through walls and breaking line of sight (from inside a house to outside).

Does the guide specify how far away you can command them with the yell command vs just saying it normally? Does it specify whether or not you can command them through walls without the yell command? If not, then it's worthless.
One could state, that the current distance is correct, and that yelling should only increase that distance.
