Here is precisely how many of each reagent it took for me to get from 50.0 to 100 magery.

50.0 - 62.9 ----- 0666 Lightning regs
63.0 - 81.9 ----- 1720 Ebolt regs
81.9 - 100 ------ 4524 Flamestrike regs
This is real skill or not?

Anybody know the formula? Trying to figure out if GMing Eval first would be beneficial.

I do not know the exact formula, but I do know that being resist is gained based off damage instead of by circle of spell, having your eval up will definately help you.

Also, if you just want to gain magery, you can always just target your spellbook for your spells instead of yourself. this way you don't worry about a healer for just magery. Also, to gain resist, if you can use multiple characters, better to have yourself and a couple of friends cast while you have a dedicated GM healer behind you. More trouble, but faster gains.

I wonder if the old Demon trick still works in this era... Get multiple people to cast summon daemon and have the daemon's attack the person (or have the person attack them) and use their mana for resist gains instead of your own... Just use yours and a friend to summon the daemons...

Fun fun fun fun fun

herme_pacho, i started with 30 resist (bought from NPC) and 50 magery (starting skill) and was still around ~90 resist by the time i GM'd magery. Make sure the resist skill isnt locked, or the skill cap isnt at 700!

The only thing I found to really be concerned about is EVAL. I noticed if i GM'd eval before magery/resist, then my resist gains were much slower. If i kept resist below 90, resist gains correlate to magery gains. I've gmed 6 mages in the past three weeks.

Good luck.
Hmm is this still true? The part about GM Eval making his resist gains slower? Or am I reading that wrong.

This is what I was told and it makes sense, Resist gains is now based on damage taken... so GM Eval means harder hitting Spells that I cast on my self so that would mean GM Eval = better resist gains... Right?

Lightning still definitely gives gains up to at least 62.

Currently at 63.6 with lightning... real/shown, all the same for resist...

Edit: ...wanted to add that Resist(63.6R) has actually surpassed Magery(58.9R), although I have no input on whether or not this has been the most cost effective method... just working with the regs I have on hand.

I'm having the opposite happen to me, Magery is up to 80.3 but Resist is only 64.5! I've gone on a couple dungeon runs so my Magery has raised a little more without casting on myself but for the most part I've been EBing myself nonstop since 62 Magery. Once I hit 82, should I still swtich to FS even though my Resist is so low? If not, should I keep casting EB to raise Resist to certain level before moving on to FS's? Thanks all!

Sorry I didn't read through this whole thread but...

When you read these guides that say "use X spell when you're at Y magery skill"... are they talking about Base or Modified?

Thanks!

I get how to make this macro up until the first "end if" from there I'm lost. Can someone dumb it down for me? I just started playing UOSA 4 days ago. Slowly learning how to use razor.
