So, does anyone know a trick to make runebooks unstealable? Razor hack? Easy UO? Am i just tired and trying to steal a spellbook? Can you dye spellbooks here? I wish i got a pic of the attempt and not just the journal but i figured id be testing his runes by now not wondering why i couldnt get them.

Runebooks are not directly stealable here. Since the item had a 0 weight during T2A (and all or UOR), and because of that special weight, they inherited particular properties such as being unstealable through direct means. A player may still steal a rune book by random stealing from a player, in which case the theft ignores the weight of the selected item when attempting to steal it (this includes theft of 11 stone or greater items; they are susceptible to random theft, although they still follow the same formula for determining the success of the theft).

Yep, this was a recent change in patch 101, you can read about in the patch notes section. There is a link next to the particular patch line that contains a bit more information on the subject as well.

BOO...UNSTEALABLE RUNEBOOKS ARE POO-DINKY!

Now that i have that outa my system im sending out a plea..."Someone champion my cause for stealable runebooks, but, with a better argument than "i wanna steal runebooks".

There has to be someone who has some data on bein able to steal runebooks during t2a... Or an emotional appeal based on the spirit of t2a...doesnt seem very t2a to me, "sure you can steal them , but not on purpose, LOLZ." Possibly someone has some blackmail material, "Derrick i still have those pictures of what you did that night when you were drinking...and ill post em!"

As it stands now rune books are effectively blessed.
Help me MatronDeWinter your my only hope!

Should have helped matron and me fight the good fight almost a month ago. We tried really hard. I'm seeing more and more runebooks now, and less people with single runes. My thief will now just be killing people, and stealing from those who will attack him when hes red. this change ultimatly destroyed the art of stalking, which is more t2a accurate then anything I know. I know ive said this many times, but people did not carry rune books in t2a. they were in t2a for a very short time, expencive, and so "cool" that people didnt carry them. they had runes to the bank, and thier house or whatever, not a runebook. we never could steal a rune book directly sure, but there were runes to steal everywhere. now there are not.

I wanted this change not to happen more then most things. After I accepted that i wasn't going to be able to steal runes, or that stealing a runebook would take time, I attmpted to ask for para ganking back. Para ganking allowed a blue mage and a thief to work together to mug people. If the thief was attacked by the person he was mugging, then He could kill him and no count would go to the mage. This too was shot down even though it is T2A accurate. End of the day, becuase of razor probably, thieves are being nerfed. I'm wondering whats next?

Trying to dig up the several page thread where matron and I fought against this change.

here is a link to where I discussed para ganking. The recent post from keivan puts the servers accual "era" to be "End of T2A (but before they gave us cool stuff before UOR)" An example of what i'm talking about: I'm not sure excactly when bola balls and tribal war paint started to drop (among other items), but I am pretty sure it was around the same time as the addition of Runebooks and poison doing level 4 poison with a poison/mage spec. Both of these changes were before we could go to the store and buy the uor box. Obviously i don't want those changes, but I should be able to paralize with no counts...

When a trammelite change like this is made, it makes the game a lot easier. I really thought we were swaying away from that in lue of "T2A Era Feel" or whatever.

At the end of the day though, most of the people on this server hate us thieves, and want thier runes and where they are going and what they are doing secure.

sissies =p

OHH on a secondary note derrik!

You recently said you wanted bandages to be cut one at a time. The same patch Para ganking was removed, auto-cut bandages went in! =)

I humbly ask this thread be moved to In game bug reports or Era Accurasy.

Runebooks should be not blessed, more fun to steal single runes to pple hunting and then hunt them when running to city :P

Its so easy to carry a runebook and run away from any place u are, not funny for thiefs or even pks. If u want to carry a runebook, carry it, but u should know it could be stolen

My vote goes AGAINST blessed runebooks... thieves are nerfed enough already with the "auto return" when guard whacked in town; lets not arbitrarily bless things to give into (pre)trammy rulesets.

They are not blessed. You cannot directly steal them though because they weigh 0 stones. You can however steal them randomly by targeting the person. Kinda sucks i know but it is era accurate.

They were blessed when they weighed 0 stones, which means they weren't even stealable via random steal in the era.

The shard strives for accuracy, but in the case of runebooks, they were made unblessed so you could lose them, which I agree with. The two forms of losing a runebook would be a) death, and b) theft. Most people carry them in their hands anyhow, making the runebook totally unstealable.

I could see a patch that nerfs thieves for the sake of era accuracy.

This patch nerfs thieves, without the sake of era accuracy. I thought that was a no-no here..

Items with a weight of 0 stones were not inherently blessed, it simply meant that they were not stealable through direct means. A person could indeed attempt to random steal a runebook because random steals did not account for the weight of an item when checking to see if it was stealable in the first place, only for special flags such as newbie or blessed.

This patch, while it was ultimately a nerf to thieves, was done with accuracy in mind, not as a calculated change done due to our own personal feelings surrounding stealing.

I just direct stole a runebook hours ago so it is still possible. Maybe it is impossible to direct steal an empty runebook?
