NPCing items is not a "part of the process" of doing maps and chests. It only becomes a part of the process if you don't understand extremely basic economic principles that were probably taught to you in high school.

No offense Treysta, but everyone plays the game their own way. What's the big deal? I grab/id/sell everything. I got an auto id macro so it is nothing for me to do it. Why are you the "uo best practices/economic guru"? You are a straight shooter, that's for sure, calling out everyone on their forum practices. Why not look in the mirror? Remember when you wanted to buy my tmap rune set then never went through with the purchase because your buddy gave you one for free? Yeah, I do too. I will add that I average about 30+% of income comes from "crap". I did keep track of a some 100 mib runs so I have actual numbers (here is one):

Gold - $211,070
Jewels (sold) - $44,036
"Crap" Items (id'd/sold) - $68,283
Scrolls (sold) - $22,493
Total - $345,882
% of "extra" from miscellaneous ites sold - 38.98
PLUS 7,341 reagents AND 1,090 id charges!

From a typical lvl 5 tmap I get (approximate numbers):
$18k
50 items to id
20% keep ratio = 40 items to sell
125 items container yields approximately $8-$9k
I think I average around 17-20% of the gold value by id/selling (this is around what I get from mibs on average as well)
I would guess the scrolls from a lvl 5 tmap sell for higher (mib only has lvl 1-6, lvl 5 tmap has lots of lvl 8 scrolls)
I would guess that the grms would be around the average

When I see "crap" sitting on the ground, I see wasted money. It takes just as long to toss crap aside then put it in your pack. I use organizer agents to place these items in sorting bins. I use an unattended macro to id shit. It takes me like 10 minutes to sell a chest "crap" items I don't want for $8-$9k, far better than farming ANYTHING for a mere 10 minutes. I don't see the lost opportunity cost of doing this.
