Each ring crafted only takes 1 diamond. There can be infinite rings made if all the diamonds are in the same place.

if anyone other players want to get in on this but are unsure about where they can aquire large amounts of diamonds, you can farm diamonds from the drakes in the lowest level of Covetous (while the gems of sosaria event lasts). very quick spawn.
