Lot cheaper (and lighter) to buy boards and cut them as you use them.

If you're raising camping the best thing to do is equip a dagger and loop 1. use object in hand 2. target relative location (standing next to a tree obviously. There's a sweet spot near the bottom that works on all types of trees). 3. Half second pause

Then just walk around in the woods, tree to tree. You'll fill up fast. I think like 80 kindling on an char with 100 STR and an empty pack. Once your full, burn the wood.

For a stockpile, yeah, I guess the thing to do would be to gather or buy boards, then have 3 toons shaving them into kindling. It's kind of a long delay, 6 seconds I believe to carve 1 kindling. But 3 chars macroing unattended could produce approx 30 per minute.
