Bank Checks

Bank checks will allow players to carry around large sums of gold to facilitate secure trading.

To get a bank check:
Go to the banker and say, "check #" where "#" is the amount of gold you wish the check to be worth (between 5,000 and 1,000,000 gold).
If you have the gold specified in your bank, a bank check of that value will be placed in your bank box and the gold will be removed.
The bank check will look like a scroll. When single clicked, the check will tell you its value.
If you do not have enough gold in your bank, you will receive a message letting you know the check was not created.
To redeem a bank check:
Drag the bank check onto a banker.
If you have enough room in your bank box, the banker will take the check and place the gold in your bank.
If you do not have enough room in your bank box, the banker will take the check and place as much gold in your bank as he can. The remaining gold will be given back to you in the form of a new bank check.
All bank checks are "blessed" which means they cannot be looted or stolen. Bank checks cannot be used to purchase items from NPC or player vendors.

The bank check thing has been beaten to death... although it is late, it won't be removed.

It's been so long since i looked at this that I'd forgotten how late era checks were. They do go along with both secure house trades and secure pet trades.

I remember money weighing like nothing before bank checks. I remember one day i was carrying about like 30k no problem, then the next day i log in and I am like wtf cant i carry this anymore, then I learned about bank checks. Can anyone confirm this. I may just be losing my mind.

Honestly I felt as though bank checks were kind of lame when they first introduced them, mainly because there blessed.

Fwerp tells me im completely wrong, but just in case, I remember being able to drag large amounts of money around in my bank box and it would always auto stack them into 60k piles. Say for instance i have a stack of 55070k, i could just drag 20k, and voila, it would become 60 and a new stack for 10070 would form. Here though, you have to drag exactly 9030 to the partial stack and simply depositing gold won't finish stacks to 60k.

Fwerp made the point that people were all the time dropping large amounts of gold on the ground on accident when attempting to stack too much into a pile, and thats proof that it wasn't the way I stated. Now while I agree, I do remember large amounts of gold falling, it always seemed to me that this was not an issue of overstacking and the default dropping, but just the left over amount that wasn't apart of the 60k default dropping. Anyways, I'm probably totaly wrong, its just another case of me feeling like something is different but not being able to put finger on it. I like my bank box tidy and really don't remember having to micromanage 60k stacks half as much as I do here.

yes, the stacks did in fact do all the math for you. You didn't have to put exact amounts together.

That would be so nice to have that here...all the mind numbing work of math :P

on a serious note that would make things much easier in organizing my bank box if I could just drag my loot onto my cash pile and if it reached 60k great the excess would be put in a separate pile...to me that just seems to make sense...

You can just make a check for 60000 and then cash it cant you?

yeah I mean if I have 51k sitting in the bank and I got 10k loot that I'm dropping off I COULD drop the 10k into a separate pile, do a bank check then deposit it.....

OR

I could just drop the 10k onto my 51k pile and end up automatically with 2 piles one that is 60k and then my 1k pile...just seams much simpler and more logical in my book

either way its not that big of a deal, but if it is in fact what happened in era then lets get that on board here, if its not, then well leave it how it is.

The argument isn't: This is hard, how can I make 60k stacks. The argument is: This seems different, is it era accurate?

I actually think you are correct, you'd get the clink sound, and the remainder would stay on your cursor.

Pretty sure the remainder would just randomly appear in whatever container the item was you tried to drop the excess amount on. This should work for all items, the max stack of anything is 60,000. If I have 59000 feathers in a locked down box, and I drop 20000 feathers onto those 59000 it should make a new pile of 19000 in the same box and update the other pile to 60,000. Likewise this should work when dropping things onto the box, instead of on the actual item.

Thats how I remember it.
