Honestly, can anyone explain how a server with 200-300 avg players can have 5000+ placed homes with the current account limits? I just ran past 30-40 large and small properties all with the same name...

I've spent 10+ hours trying to place a patio. I refuse to pay these 20 account exploiters.

What's the point in farming up the gold if there's no land to place?

Obviously you farm gold to place the house. There are also 3200 houses (over 1/2 being smalls). It's called capitalism.

Actually, there was 3200 on haloween, i would estimate that at least 300+ of the smalls have decayed and never been replaced. If you look long enough, you will eventually find a spot for an L shape, you may not be able to start out with a 1 million dollar home for deed cost, but you can always buy a cheap in the swamps/jungle POS house for next to nothing. You are probably looking in the wrong spot.

I ran the entire map, twice, after 6 months of not being active. I luckily found a spot for an L (just one), and Vega has already made note of it. It's competitive, but a small can be placed almost anywhere.

I was about to say just what this man has said. I've run this entire map probably over 50+ times just by myself, on this shard alone. In that time, I've found maybe 3 Lshapes and 1 brick open and available in that time. Also they were not obvious spots. I also won the Halloween Trick or Treat event, which encouraged us to seek as many houses out as possible. Every week I'm saddened by the number of small homes that have decayed and not replaced. At the same time, there are enough people who care about this shard to refresh their medium+ size homes without really playing. No one group of people own all the homes larger than smalls. While you might see an average of 300 players online at any given moment; I encourage you to log into the UOSA IRC and type in !status. There's over 600+ unique IP address that log in daily. These are all the people who own homes. While they cannot play throughout the day, they log in and play while they can.

If you're looking to place a small house, Please contact me and I'll hook you up with the best spot available meeting your requirements for free. Else, It's worth paying the minimum starting bid for a medium+ house. These people have spent HOURS of their lives finding these home spots, timing their decays, attending to the decaying house, and putting up front money (via deed cost) to place the house. I'd rather farm inside dungeons to get the base gold amount rather than put in the investment it takes to place my own medium house (that's what I did, in fact). Paying a 2x deed SB as a minimum requirement (or even less).. it is so much easier to farm that gold than the do it yourself.

My guess is you tried Dagger Isle (aka Ice Isle). Yes a lot of the homes are named Humboldt county on their house sign. But that is one or maybe 2 people in one concentrated area on the entire shard. Around this time, there's only two or three groups of people who actively find these decaying home spots, place them, and then list them for sale. It definently isn't a group of 'exploiters' doing whatever they can to rape the newer population. (My group is one of the placers, and in another thread or threads you'd see how we compensated (even perhaps overcompensated) a player who lost his house because his refresh attempt didn't work.. at not gain to ourselves). We encourage new players at every avenue, and price our home listings accordingly. I'd go so far as to speak for the majority of the shard on this issue.

You mention housing costing players 3x deed for BFE? Well there's more than one listing in the Housing forum for less than 2x deed at the moment.

There is PLENTY of land to place if you want a small home. A small home serves most, if not all, of the benefits of owning a home on this shard. There's even places on Moonglow open and waiting, which I consider to be prime real estate. If you want a medium+ house, then you have to buy it from the forums. Trust me, the prices barely reflect the actual cost the players spent to get an individual property. Or you could always try finding homes that are decaying and place them yourself.. but you'd have a hard time. Consider 2x deed the minimum amount you need to farm in gold for an already placed house (of which you'd get HALF that gold back if you ever deeded your house). Any homes less than 2x deed cost.. are the buyer winning and not the seller.

In the last two months, I placed four smalls just at the first corner going east on the road from the Skara Brae dock. Small spots are easy to find, they are all over the place. For larger, you're just going to have to pay, and it's not even much of a markup unless the location is special in some way. I've tried selling smalls at my location for deed plus 5k with no success, and then deed plus zero.

- It would make the Map look nicer without Houses virtually everywhere.
- New People could place a larger Home without trouble and be happy.

Great Spots like Moongate Vendor Houses, Castles plots, places like the House in Wind and so
on would still be premium and fetch Millions. Enough "capitalism" i think ...
