Stables/Griefing

Post by archaicsubrosa77 »

Okay lets be real, I am thinking people from one server griefs another. This is absolutely the truth and you know it. Whether it be static housing from non-players to simply farming or crafting automated afk to fill a hundred stable slots. I seriously do not think its reds afraid of statloss. I seen people sell stable slots at crazy prices to pay to keep the other ones they had full.

I am not feeling the hurt as much as other people may but the problem persists. What do we need to do? Secure a small with ovens all about, and how do we secure the entrance? Can stacking tables to the roof break line of sight? Keeping vets online 24/7 set with bandage /food macros?

Can we have some input here? Is there some kind of cold war going on from people running free shards? Or is it just little naga-nerds who hate life because they hadn't been intimate for most their life if ever?

Please tell me what you're talking about, I don't understand much of this. I assume the general topic is taming and stable slots. I might make a tamer soon so I'm curious - I'm not flaming or trolling, I honestly don't get what any of this means. For example...

1. Crafting automated afk to fill stable slots? What does this mean? Crafting what? Crafting something in the stable?
2. What does this have to do with reds or statloss?
3. Secure a small with ovens? I assume you mean line the walls of a small with oven add-ons? Why would anyone do that?
4. Stacking stools I assume you mean, to make a staircase? If so, break line of sight of what?
5. By vets do you mean veteran players, or a character with the Veterinary skill macro'ing food into a pet?

Anyone feel free to jump in here. I think this is something to do with tames going grey, keeping them in a house or w/e. Thanks in advance.

I am thinking he is wondering if there is a conspiracy run by people who support shards other than UOSA, that choose to do actions in UOSA which 'hurt' our shard to keep UOSA down. 1. Players who don't play here any longer keeping their houses refreshed to clog up housing spots and make their spots unusable. 2. Players afk crafting items to sell to vendors (think sheep farm-to-fancy shirt) to introduce more gold into the economy and cause inflation (while simultaneously keeping the vendors from having gold to buy items from legit crafters). And last but not least, monopolizing the stable slots to hurt active players who just want a place to keep their pets safe when they log out. Then OP is asking if there are viable work-arounds to keeping your pets safe without the use of stable slots (which are typically full).

That'd be a pretty massive conspiracy on the part of the other shards.

Especially the idea that they'd come here and craft items just to cash strap our NPCs.

That's a whole lot of time and effort to expend on something they have no reason to really give a crap about in the first place.

My guess would simply be that vendors can't buy stuff because so many people have mastered the system, that's all. The modern UOSA player is just too damn efficient. I've got this fishing business down to a frkn science, to the point where I'm making 20x as much gold in a day as I could have even hoped to back in the era. Which also means I'm selling 20x as much junk to the NPCs: scrolls, gems, low grade weapons/armor, etc.

Seems likely too that our own tamers are just hoarding too many animals on Stablemasters. They've got more than they can ever use, but it's a matter of not wanting to give them up. Plus once the stable slot itself has value, it becomes coveted for that reason alone. Then a market develops, etc.

I remember back in the era stablemasters were not invulnerable (though they had like a jillion HPs) and if you killed one everyone lost their mounts.

I am talking about using crafters, fishers, occasional farmers with vendors to acquire gold to purchase property and fill stable slots. All you have to do is refresh pets and housing thereafter. Being pets cost little to stable it really would not take too much effort. Once the housing is acquired its just a click of the door. While we are playing UO there is another group playing Monopoly shard to shard.

You are completely wrong on the cold war housing thing. The people here who clog up housing on UOSA play here they r just dicks....ask vega he freely admits he does as much. Stop trying to blame the population here on things its clearly not and face the facts.

Many vets here play this shard like an investment. What do you do with a commodity that isn't selling high right now? You hold onto it for a couple of years until a small house stops being worth deed +10k, and then goes to 2 to 3 deeds.

That is what has happened with uosa. All housing has jumped in prices due to hoarding. That is the goal of house hoarding.

As for stables, the stable blocking started out as a gesture to show staff how broken the system is. They tried adding stablemasters in certain stables; hoping to stay era accurate. For every fix, people just made it worse.

Keep in mind that before stablemasters were changed, we all had stables filled with dragons, mares , wyrms etc. After it was changed, a ton of people lost a LOT of work. I wouldn't doubt that the stables continues on as a spiteful tactic.
