wtf is this? magic protection in town?
wtf is this? magic protection in town?
Facts:
I was playing a mage
A thief stole some stuff from me in town
I wanted to defend myself and my property
I blasted him with some spells which for some reason did no damage
Later on me and my friend tested spell damage outside of town and inside of town and we found out that for some reason mages aren't allowed to defend themselves in town. Why? I dont have a god damn clue. This is retarded
Why do warriors get to defend themselves but not mages? Whatever answer you give to this is meaningless. This is a rhetorical question. Its being proposed in order to bring up a point about how unjust this is

Re: wtf is this? magic protection in town?
During the T2A era, spells did no damage in town. Since we aim to replicate the mechanics of late T2A, spells do no damage in town here.

Fact: UO is a flexible game and ou can make a warrior with no resist and be a badass instead of being a whiney, be-slubbering skainsmate.

I think that may have been his point.Vega wrote:Your name is hilariously ironic given the post.
Anyway, he isn't nearly the first whiner, and he surely won't be the last.

Re: wtf is this? magic protection in town?
technically that's not irony, it's just a wonderful coincidence that his name mirrors his casting abilities in town
if his name was "KillerofThieves" that would be ironic

I understand it's era accurate so we have to live with it, but I agree with the OP that this game mechanic is stupid and annoying.

I believe the intent behind it was to encourage town fights amongst dexers. Essentially, a different area of the game has a different combat dynamic (for C/O fights).

When this rule was applied I finally made a dexxer. But a guild named COP was running towns at that point. And if you ran into 1 or 2 they called 5 more to come. God I couldn't stand them. I think they were the first guild to ever use voice communication.

I find it quite hilarious
Re: wtf is this? magic protection in town?
Keep in mind.. spell damage being casted does no damage, BUT.. spell damage from a weapon.. say thunder charges, do full damage in town.
