afk macroing getting out of hand???

Post by Blakheart »

I hear people talking about thier macro's that have avatars going from town to town buying up reagents and other items???

Perhaps I was alseep during the whole terms of service thingy...but isnt afk macroing supposed to be limited to non-resource skills? Like hiding, item id, herding..etc??

So why can people be running macroes to run afk avatars from town to town buying reagents? Are reagents not considered a resource? Are fish not considered in the same vein?

Perhaps it is time to define exactly what a resource is or isn't, for those that seem to want to push that grey area???
I understand afk fishing, if the fish are being stacked at your feet where any player can grab them. I haven't seen anyone placing regs at their feet as their afk players buys out the resource!

just my thought for the day :)

I haven't seen anyone talking about "their" macros. But if i had, I would've made a report about it to the GMs to watch that person. Thats is a serious advantage over other players. Thus one of the reasons i keep my char names secret =P

I have so far considered resources to be Lumber, Ore and Cloth (cotton/wool). Things which are harvested. A player that is macroing at a reg shop to buy regs, which is possible with razor would have to do so with a large amount of cash on him and a potentially a large amount of regs, which, since there are ways to kill unattended players in town seems like a risky move to me.

We do monitor pretty regularly unattended resource gathering and have found very little of it going on. When we do find it, we do not take it lightly.

I say stop all macroing. What's the point of letting a macro play the game for you?! never understood it, not even on the official servers.

Makes me wonder how many of those players online are actually active.

Because this game along with most MMO's is to time consuming to work up skills only when youre playing. Plus allowing unattended macroing bring more people to the shard =P

the game isn't like it was 10 years ago, the 'new & fresh' feeling has long since worn off...

bc since ive started playing freeshards about 3 years ago, i've worked atleast 500 characters to 7x, and im defiantly not doing it without macroing.

Lol, this guy is referring to me. I told him this on my char weedsmoke. Hes some tamer fag.

LOL!. Shut up pussy. Macroing is part of life.

edit: i am taking this as a personal attack granted this guy is bitching about something i told him. therefor, that is why i am so rude above, and will continue to be, to this player.

hmm I was actually reffering to something that was mentioned in mirc. And I'm not a fag, and have never tried the taming skill.

You may also notice I mentioned no names in my post, nor slurred anyone.

btw I don't mind a good flame war, but it's all in fun :)

It wasn't a personal attack...read it again. It was a legitimate question.

"I haven't seen anyone talking about "their" macros. But if i had, I would've made a report about it to the GMs to watch that person. Thats is a serious advantage over other players."
--well that's why I asked here, and Derrick answered. I wouldn't want to report a name to a GM for something I wasn't sure about concerning the rules. I take Derrick's answer to mean that as of now, it's not illegal, and that's the end of the story. Without any names ever being involved :)

This is a late reply, but after giving a lot of thought to this, buying regs with a macro should not be allowed while unattended. Regs are considered to be a resource, reasons being... Alchemy, Inscription, Resell. Just as Ore and lumber are needed for skills so are Regs. If someone is allowed to buy regs with a macro/UOE unattended then people should be allowed to mine ore and chop trees unattended.

I am kind of OK with letting people macro buy regs, up until the point where it becomes a problem for someone who is legitimately trying to buy them, i say watch this for a while and if it becomes crazy we can put an end to it

Heres my 2 cents.

I think macroing is an important part of the free server. Most of us that play now have familys college and careers that take most of our free time. AFK Macroing gives those that dont have that much time to participate and make positive (unless they're just an ass I guess) contribution to the server when they do get a chance to play.

To the afk reg gathering. I would have to agree that it is a resource and resource macroing is against the rules. I made a thread about how the regs where disappering off of the vendors (as in only 20 of each defalt) and I realized it was about the same time this thread was started. So I came to this conclusion; we are a small brand new shard and there is not enough reg purchasing to continually keep the regs above, say 100, or even 50 most of the time. AFK reg gathering was keeping them higher, which made it easier to purchase regs needed. Now I know that opens up a whole other argument on economics and such so... Just thought I would intergect.
