Re: New to Game
Also i want to use a bow and shoot, which class is best for this and how could i go about doing it?
Re: New to Game
The TAB key places you in combat mode. You also need a weapon in your hand (drag it from the pack to your paperdoll's hand)
Archery can be trained. You will need a bunch of arrows. Good idea to have a character with the Lumberjack skill and the Bowcraft and Fletching skill.

This is an archve of the Stractics webpage from the UO early days and great for what you need to know.

Current Stractics is useful, but beware that much is different.

Re: New to Game
The one thing about UO that you need to know is that there are no "levels" You pick every skill you want separately therefore making a very large number of different combination's possible.
When attacking something stronger than you are you want to make sure you can heal yourself, you can do this with the healing skill by using bandages (cut cloth) or with magery with the healing spell.
Finally, welcome to the best era of UO, hope you enjoy yourself here![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: New to Game
We could kill a good many electrons going into this.
There is a good guide at http://guidesarchive.ign.com/guides/10597/
I'll be honest, some heavy reading or finding some friends is a great way to get into the game.
Healing requires that you double click the bandage and then yourself. You can go through a lot of cloth this way.
I started in the graveyard NW of Britain, but it is getting crowded. The area around Yew is nice. Low issues with PKs and if you head SE there is a good selection of targets.
Just leaving to watch a game, but PM me via the forums and I might be able to help you get going in the game. (I'm a semi newbie, just a couple weeks back into it after 8 years out)

Re: New to Game
people like this is are contributing factors to why this shard will be successful. you don't have only vets running around but also newer players who are learning to play JUST like on osi back in the day!

Im new to the server Walka, I just started about 4 days ago, but I was an oldschool UO player about 12 years ago. I hang around moonglow with my mage Sparrowhawk atm so if you see me around town give me a nudge and I will show you the ropes in game. Its a huge learning experience and will take months to do, but hey, I have time on my hands
and I am 'paying it forward' for the help I recieved all those years ago, and also for the help I received recently off a kind player called Maria on this server.
