You might want to try northern areas... (ie: N-E of Yew moongate a few)
However it's full of monsters that are quite annoying, hence I paid more for a house in a good spot

There are a handful above Wrong...
Windemere Woods
Smalls are not hard to find.

I know an empty spot that fits a small, surrounded by forest and close to both a mountain and a moongate, perfect for a new player getting started on the shard. If you are interested I will send you a PM with the location.
