magic wizards hat cant id

i looted a magic wizards hat off an npc . i can not id this hat!! i am gm ID and have used a wand. this hat gives +5 int and takes away 5 str dex. any ideas?

I imagine it's a magical wizard's hat and not a magic wizard's hat. It's the same type of hat that can be bought from NPCs.

It is just that way... I did exactly the same until I read the wording behind it... if in doubt, try it on and see what it does. Sure enough, my one was a store bought hat!

yes i did that i had forgotten about them not having the cunning tag.... do they run out? it has been so long since i have delt with these (can u still buy them?)

They don't use charges therefore they never run out. And yes you can buy them at mages shops.
