In game Chat System Not saving names

Post by Trephination »

If you hit alt + T you get the good old fashioned chat system.

Do it now and you will be like OMG!! this thing !!!!

Now... step 1 it asks you to create your name.
It states that this name will be perminent.
You do this and now you are in chat!
You can create a new room and all that jazz.

Now... close it and go back into it. (dont even close uo, just the chat)
Type in your name, and .... if you didn't open "Options" and SAVE.... You cant get in. That name is already taken.

I'm guessing nobody has bothered touching this thing, as most people dont even know its there.

Could you make it auto save so people don't loose their names?

To my knowledge, it might be due to running UO not as an Administrator. That name you define in the chat gets saved into one of the configuration files, within your UO directory. If that file can't be overwritten due to lack of permissions, it will not save.
