Does joining any NPC guilds (except for thieves) have any advantages?

I've herd rumors that joining the "mage guild" will lower the cost of items sold from the vendors and also noticed a guild stone in the large BS building just across the SW bridge in Brit. Just curiosity really

Joining the mages guild will get you a discount on regs (like 1gp per).

Mage guild gets you a 1gp discount on black pearl and blood moss, 2gps in runes, and not sure about scrolls, bottles or potions.

Mining guild apparently also gives you a discount in shovels, but I haven't confirmed.

So yeah, apparently they do have a small advantage.

Black Pearl and Blood Moss 20% off and the other reagents are 25% off after joining the mage guild. Hardly a tiny discount.

The guild stone in the smithy is the UBB, United Blacksmiths of Britannia. On the Atlantic shard the UBB guild stone was in this building. Derrick saw fit to place it there on UOSA also. The UBB was active across multiple shards and had a good bit of influence on mining and smithing. Excalibur Bane the original GM of the UBB had Designer Dragon's ear back in the day.

How do you actually join the Mage Guild? Thanks.

Go to a mage guildmaster (in most magery shops) and say "<name> join" and drop 500gps on him.

Note that you can only belong to one guild at a time, so for example if you're a member of the Thieves' Guild, you can't join the Mage Guild without first resigning from Thieves Guild.
