I didn't know where the appropriate place for this should go. This name seems somewhat offensive.

I'm no linquist but if you can't see the racist implications in such a name, you're being intentionally ignorant. I know you aren't, but let's not play that game ok?

You can report it through in-game Help and if staff agrees that it is inappropriate, it will be changed.

Umm, the staff will do nothing. This has been debated to death. But since you brought it up ..... it's ERA INACCURATE to allow such names to be used, or language to be used during the game. Was bannable back in the day.

Hello Budner and welcome to UOSA. It would appear you are new here.

Please take a moment to browse http://my.uosecondage.com and query the name 'generic'.
You'll find more than 100 results for Generic Player, the name given to those who choose to be complete imbeciles when choosing their character names.

If you think that many people personally selected Generic Player, and it wasn't a change done by staff, that is your right to be incorrect.

However, with the amount of characters per player here, it's highly likely that a great many do not get reported. You can see by doing the same query, but for 'nigg', that there's plenty of work to be done there.

For what it's worth:
—Obscene names may be changed at staff discretion

Enjoy.

Blaise is correct. Paging will work but I've always found the best method is to hit Derrick up on IRC with a myuosa link. He is a reasonable fella and will most definitely change something inappropriate to Generic Player.

I stand corrected. It never occurred to me that you can spout any possible offensive or racist word or phrase with utter impunity on this shard (which is unquestionably era inaccurate) but somehow the staff would care about the name you choose. So I can say "*uck you *igger Jew *unt" all day at the Brit bank but if my character's name is "niglet" the staff changes it to "Generic Player" and I can still say "*uck you *igger Jew *unt" all day at the Brit bank. That makes perfect sense. That is genius.

Players can filter any word they choose, through the client options, genius.

Players cannot filter names.

This edgy teenager is here to help us see past our incoherent, PC thug ways. Wake up, sheeple! DON'T YOU KNOW WORDS DON'T MEAN THINGS UNLESS WE LET THEM!?

I find your vile hate speech highly offensive and it has no place in these forums. This man needs to be censored and banned. There is no excuse for ever using this kind of language. What if a child were to read this? How could I explain this to them?

You can report them all you want...If something like a name offends you, maybe you should take a look at yourself and ask yourself why someone naming themselves something would really offend you. Maybe its your lack of confidence in your own race? Maybe its your ego trying to regulate others?

Think about it...

Maybe it's a desire to enjoy myself in a game without being surrounded by racist children who's sole purpose is to attempt to offend others.
Trust me, I'm as white as any pasty basement troll here, but I just get tired as all hell of racism. Its fucking retarded and has no place in this world, let alone in this game. If you love racism so much, go download a copy of Ethnic Cleansing. I hear it's enlightening.

If we're gonna debate racism in a wizard game, we gotta ask ourselves why orcs and ettins arent allowed in towns
