UO Second Age

Not sure which forum to post this in but I was just looking at one of my threads and noticed there were hyperlinks added into the content of my original post. When I hovered over them it said "link added by viglink". Not sure if this is on my end or staff's end or what exactly it is. I googled it and found a link where you could "disable" these links. We'll see if that works. I edited my post (didn't actually make any changes) and it is gone for me now. Has anyone else experienced this?

The google results showed a lot of people in various forum settings having this same experience so I'm guessing this isn't malware, but I'm not as tech-savvy as many of you so any advice or clarification is appreciated.

That's not cool

That is Admins way of helping them run this shard free for you. If you type some key words like Batman Starbucks or apple they will automatically link to comercial sites, and the owners of this site get paid for it, so....it helps to keep the shard running.

...or maybe not. That might have been the previous software they used.

If it's a way to help Derrick and the staff then I'm all for it. This is just the first I've seen it so I thought I would ask.

Aye, it's something that we added quite a long time ago in hopes of revenue, turns out it only makes us about 50 cents a month. Been meaning to disable it.

Damn, should put some Adsense ads on the forums instead if thats possible.

Adsense will let you earn till nearly cashing out for the 1st time then hit ya with some bull excuse so they dont have to pay out - I got "copyright infringement" on a site i had they kept the £67

Adsense is crap for most sites. I am a professional at earning money online as silly and gimmicky as that might sound. I have worked with Derrick in the past, and might be working with him again to help find a better way to monetize UOSA and JoinUO without ruining the user experience with low quality Ads.

Adsense is 100% legit for certain business models, UOSA is not a well-matched fit for it though.
