Red NPC archer mage

Are these a new spawn or just some rare spawn?
Saw one in the swamp North of Trinsic. Never seen one before. It casted low level spells and threw explode pots. When I killed it, it dropped a bunch of rubys and emeralds on the ground around its corpse.

I killed one last night but didnt notice the gems spilling everywhere (was also casting ebolts and expl combos at me)
I think these are evil santa elves for Xmas

Yes those are evil elves. I've killed a couple but haven't gotten any rare loot or anything. I heard somewhere that in years past there was a chance of a wreath deed on their corpse, but not sure if that's true or if that's still the case this year.

They are Relvinian's elves, and they're a pain in the arse to kill. There was a HUGE event a couple of years ago at Rel's house near the Hedge Maze. Some of the bodies can still be seen there.
