UO Second Age

And welcome the IPY community to this server. Their unfortunate situation as lead to the loss of a shard which was beloved to them. It's never easy having to leave behind a community that one cares about, but with our help, hopefully we can bring their community here, so that they can continue to enjoy UO the way that they remember it best.

I had to go dome some Googling to see what this was all about. It sounds like they're doing a shard wipe according to a post by the admin, and everyone sounds very supportive.

Are we anticipating a certain percentage of players may take the opportunity to start fresh somewhere else, or did I miss something?

No shard wipe, the shard is shutting down.

I didn't see that thread yet. Too bad, I am from IPY, and was ready to see it die, and have the communities merge. Oh well.

Well, regardless of whether you need somewhere to go, or want to try something different, we would certainly welcome you and anyone else from your shard if you all need a place to go.

I've only been here about six weeks myself, but I've been very pleased with how things are ran here. The admins are very professional, and we have a diverse player base that keeps things interesting.

UOSA is still the best, for countless reasons. Hopefully some of the players from these failing other free shards find their way here so they can experience how great this place really is.

Well, IPY players can return to a server that will be on its third "reboot", or come to UOSA, a server that has never had a server wipe in its several year history, and never will. The kinks are worked out here, the server is funded and stable, and the admins leave the players the fuck alone.

UOSA has one game breaking issue that other servers don't have, ridiculous desyncing every 10 seconds(while running) and having to hit a sync hotkey everytime it happens. This kinda crap really ruins pvp

I was just doing a forum search on this to see what it was about. It sounds like something that affects all shards based on RunUO, but there seems to be a consensus that it's more frequent here, and primarily affects the PVP aspect of the game.

Considering that all of this software exists due to volunteer efforts, there will be some kind of issue anywhere one goes, and I think they should still give us a try, regardless of our imperfections.

De sync isnt really that bad. Not gamebreaking by any means. Halbu probably just lost in combat 10 mins before that post and needed to let some rage out.

I believe it might be affected by ping and physical location. Don't let what I said discourage you from playing here if you aren't already. This shard is the best even with it.

As a side note, I've be very wary of an admin who keeps claiming money troubles on an extremely popular shard that gives out items for donations.

These shards are not supposed to be for profit (and if they are, be upfront about it) so I can't quite figure out how he could possibly be making a loss, but it's not my concern either... Just hopefully others keep it in mind.

edit: I may have misread/read too far into that first bit of his post, idk anything about IPY otherwise... My point still stands in general though for UO shards.
