Server Wipe

Post by Silent Killer »

I know there's already a million threads about this, but I'm just gna make another one.

Revert the server to day one... Give everyone a fresh start, no housing, no nothing.. Just new chars on day 1 of the shard. Let everyone get a fair-er chance at becoming rich, instead of having these inflated house prices, and having like 6 ppl on the shard have all the wealth (essentially).

Ok, we'll do that. Thanks for your concern.

I thought it was 7 people with all the wealth, not 6?

I refuse to hear all arguments in favor of this save for one: the potential bandwidth saved when Derrick's web server no longer has to host you soggy twats blubbering about a shard wipe.

Wipe your eyes and get over it.

How does this exactly help the situation? Wouldn't we just be in the same place again after 2+ years? Fixing the problem does not begin with a wipe.

Even more important, how is it fair to those who are finally just "getting rich" after playing a year of catch up.

Server wipes kill shards. It has happened again and again, even to some of the best freeservers in existence. Angel Island, for example, used to have about 200 or so unique clients online a few years ago, then they wiped, and now its dead. Not slow, not low pop, fucking dead.

Maybe restrictions on housing need to be put in place?

It's not like the housing market is very tight though. A placed larger house usually does not sell for much of a premium as far as I've seen. Location seems to be priced at a premium, but it would be expected. IDOC's are around as well, and someone with enough desire to find them can place pretty much whatever they want.

Too many houses owned by the same people and just being held. 15 houses per person. This was ok on OSI because you were paying for 3 accounts. It isn't ok here because it's free, obviously.

It should be 5 houses per IP. This would open up space for any new player that comes here and we'd lose a lot of the complaining that new players do about not being able to get a house.

The way housing is right now, it more mimics a exploit to the system, rather than a game feature.

One house per account would probably be more enforceable, but at the same time, as a new player, I'm not too worried about the housing situation. The prices on the forums for placed houses are a not that bad. Paying someone an extra 10k for a placed house, for me, is of little consequence.
