Not coming back
Not coming back
(Title is only mildly amusing in the context of other posts today)
In any case, I've decided to leave the shard and wanted to say thanks for all of the fun. I was able to accomplish some things I never had the time/knowledge/ping to do in 1999, which was great. Also tons of fun competing against all of you, whether I was trying to take your gold, your weapon from your pack, or your life (or, running frantically to keep my own)!
Ultimately in my brief stint back, I found that everything I had an interest in still accomplishing has been made exponentially more difficult by the historical presence of cheaters and some impressive Razor macros. And while nothing here is unattainable for anyone, the time and effort involved in overcoming my late start makes it not worth pursuing.
Favorite memory of mine personally was probably the morning right after server up that I was able to deed four houses/towers I had bought or constructed, and put a castle in their place. Favorite external memory has to be the $$$ tower getting infiltrated and vendor-bombed. One of the many incredibly clever things I've seen on this shard.
Thanks of course to the staff for building such a great world for us to congregate in.
You can find some of my guides in my signature; for a complete list, use advanced search for the Guides forum for topics started by MIKEL123. Hope they're helpful; they were certainly fun to create. I'll browse through my files and see if there's anything else lying around that may be of use, but this is probably the entirety of it.

You will be sorely missed.
Take care, and good luck! You leave a great amount of Wizardly Wizdom behind, for which we are all thankful!

I'm rather bummed that I have been pretty much inactive during this last stint of yours. As they say... You'll be back.

I remain 80% certain that applejack has a Google alert for "$$$ tower" and that's how he found this thread so quickly

Does this mean you wanted neon sandals but find it to difficult to save up 20 million to buy a pair?
Elaborate pls!
Also, I never knew who you were in game... Name some chars pls?

Re: Not coming back
Neon sandals, no. Other unique decorative items, yeah. In fact, the two things I never really got into during my time in UO were resources (boards/bricks/fishing) and rares. I wanted to try to get into rares for some decorating ideas (and I suppose wearing a polar bear mask would fit within the "decorating" category), but the amount of time spent to acquire that stuff just wasn't worth the payoff.
I ran around a lot on my dexer murderer with daemon bone armor, because every once in a while I'd res someone and they'd remark how cool it was to see it in the field. At the time, a set cost around a half-hour of farming. Nowadays it would cost, I dunno, 3 hours. Still definitely worth it to show people something new, and of course to put a nice incentive on people to kill me. Also would be cool to run around on my tamer in a polar bear mask, or have a few more cool gray-hued items in my "penance room". There was a guy selling three pieces of gray furniture, which would have been *perfect* for such a room... for 1.5mil. I think he certainly could have gotten a castle deed for them. But much as I'd love to put that in the room and show you all a screenshot... is it really worth, I dunno, 12-15 hours of farming? I just didn't think so.
In order of most playing time to least, my characters were:
Kristen
Indianna
Dalavar Wolfmage
Jinnarin
Darak
Aravan
Silk
Aylis
Lord Britjsh
...and the rest were probably played infrequently enough to have never seen in your travels.

Re: Not coming back
I just stumbled across your "Tips and Tricks" guide in your signature literally like two days ago, and it's been a great read ever since, covers a lot of information very concisely and in depth that I haven't found elsewhere on the forums.
Sorry to see you go, but wish you all the best!

Re: Not coming back
After all this time, I have yet to see any of those characters in game. You have said quite a few things to me in the forums.. I have asked, "who are you in game?" . No one ever answered. My head hurts.

Causa, nice meeting you in this brief stint. Enjoy the bank to yourself now
GK, I have generally avoided answering such questions, because it inevitably leads to trash talk, which I am - usually - not interested in. Not that you would, but others seeing the thread.
I only came upon your Guardian Knight character in Elder Gazers a couple of times. Once with my mace tank PK Darak, with whom I was, for the most part, pretty inept with. I believe you survived this encounter due to liberal use of Hiding and a keen sense of the 8-tile minimum distance from an aggressor. I believe I later killed you with my fence dexer (tracking+purples 4tw) at that spot though possibly not on the first try. Much easier to kill tamers with a dexer and 48 AR since you can shrug off most dragon claw hits. Other than that, I don't think we bumped into each other when you were on GK.
If you had other chars, perhaps we crossed paths, though my Kristen character has a wardrobe that's hard to forget. So perhaps that's unlikely we did and you don't remember.
In any case, I was largely a loner on UOSA, my play time being disrupted frequently by IRL here and there, so I wasn't a reliable guildmate and hardly ever went onto IRC (until a month or two ago).
Watching people interact and play this game is nearly as interesting as playing it myself.

Amusingly, by the end of my play here, most of it was spent stealthing and tracking. So perhaps this is a good thingGuardianKnight wrote:After all this time, I have yet to see any of those characters in game.

With all of that said....I don't even play now and I want you to stay.
