How do you become not red?

When I said "I must consider my sins", It said "fear not, thou has not slain the innocent in a while", I kill someone, and now I'm red. Confused?
Back in the day, it was 8 hours in game per kill, was it not? Now that I'm red, how do I become not red, wait 40 hours in game?

With so little information provided, I would have to venture to guess that you attacked someone in a house that had other people in there and they suicided themselves and all counted you....thus you turning red.

I'm still confused. I had:
If you have zero short terms, but more than zero long terms:
* Fear not, thou hast not slain the innocent in some time...
What's the math/logic behind this?

As I put in my edited post, you need to provide more information on how this Nefarious deed that you commited came to be.
I have never seen an issue with counts getting handed out, so i'm pretty sure its working as intended. Another thing people can do is "hold" counts, so that's always possible.

Was simply one person that I killed, that's the confusing part. I understand the person counted me, but I figured I had more kills to go before turning red. I guess I'm looking for a way that I can track this information and figure out how long it'll take me to turn blue.

How did you kill them?

Attacked them in town with my war hammer (mainly as a joke, expecting to get guard whacked). Guards didn't come, so I continued to kill.

The "i must consider my sins" query only gives info on your short-term counts, not long term. You "fear not" because if you were to res, you wouldn't receive a stat loss penalty, red characters receive this same exact message. Long term counts are what determine your red status, and take 40 hours to macro-off. So, if you just killed the one person that turned you red, then you will have to wait 40 hours to turn blue.

if you say [publicchar in game then go to myuosa at
http://my.uosecondage.com/ and look up your character you can see how many kills you have. As Bojangles said its 40hrs of actual logged in per kill but the timer does not reset on your 5th kill...if you had waited 39 hrs then killed someone you would only be red for one hour. at least this is my experience

The message you were getting: "Fear not, thou has not slain the innocent in some time". This meant you had no short term murders, but you do have long term murder counts. You can even receive this message if you are a murderer.
So yes - it is very possible to receive this message and go red on your next murder count.

The logic is to let you know that you DO have long term murder counts and that you could be in danger of going red. This was a bigger deal on OSI where there was absolutely no way to check your long term murder count.
