New to the server

Post by ReDmAn »

Hello all,

I just found this server and have been messing around at the gy on a new char for a little while.

Just how I remember old UO

I was wondering how the skill gain is here compared to OSI ? Also what is the best way to make money when starting off ?

Thanks

Welcome to the Second Age.

* Skill gain is a lot easier than OSI here and should not be a problem to 7x a character.

* There are numerous ways of "making money"; it just depends on which route you prefer. (Crafter, Bard, Fishing, etc.) The economy is stable and good here so you won't see a influx of towers and castles throughout the shard.

Thanks for the reply

I haven't played t2a since OSI great lakes but I'm guessing most people play hally mages for pvp?

I'll prob make a dexxer to earn money at first.

Where is the most pvp, gy ? dungeons ? bux ? x roads ?

I dont really think that this shard has developed a "known" pk area. Like besides Bucs den and all but thats a given,. Also like Destard I suppose and Urk fort which is located just NW of xroads.

It would be awesome if a lot of people started hanging out at places, like x roads etc.

By xroads, he probably means the one west of Britain.
Mercenary Inn isn't xroads.

This is less than curious. Staff members are typically recruited as staff members and not from our playerbase. Lady Aura has been present in a support role in Forums and IRC for the past couple weeks and joined our in-game staff yesterday. UO Second Age staff do not play on the shard. Welcome Lady Aura.

My Apologies for continuing the derailment of this thread.

Sry for continuing delrailment, but Lady Aura, Death Before Dishonor [DB4] from catskills?

Anyways to ReDmAn, the skill gain here is pretty slow, but not nearly like OSI.
The BEST way to get started is to make a bard because you can macro provocation at the brit stables, and it's cheap.
Once you've got above 95 provo you can go out and provo some of the higher end mobiles like Ogre Lords, also liches or even fire eles (which give really good loot)
Have fun, and get ready for some recalling/running: reds frequent most good money spots in the game.
I've never had trouble finding PVP at Destard entrance, I PK alot at all levels Deceit, and I've never been; but TW Town is aparently fairly popular.

Nope, I'm from Pacific.

I'm in the Pacific time zone so you guys will definitely see more in game support during late hours (rest of the staff is mainly from the East Coast).

I dont know if i would agree with this. Yes, skill gain is not as difficult as OSI but do not think "alot easier" means you will be gming taming in a couple days or doing resist/magery/healing/etc. over night.

I think that skill gain is just a tad faster than on osi but comparable. (as far as using skills). I have found skill gain to be easier as with the player pop right now it is much easier to gather reags/resources.

On OSI to gm a mage i would run around and buy all the reags i could afford/find and maybe get 500-1000 casts then have to go farm. Here it is much easier to stockpile and then go from 50-100 magery all at once... i could have never done that on OSI due to competing with the player base for reags and easy farming spots.

So that aspect of it is much easier but many think the actual time spent raising skills is similar to osi.

e.i. im coming up on 3 weeks and my tamer is at 94.1... I have sunk some serious hours into him to get to this point.

But thats what makes it worth playing... Welcome! Hope you like it here!

There are very few castle spots left, and there IS an influx of towers, but that doesn't mean the economy is off.
