Inspired by archaicsubrosa77's post; I thought I would throw out some variety as well!

This is a Character template for those who wish to play the game a little more casually; preferrably with only 1account/1char but with a group of friends who wish to play similarly.

Str: 90
Dex: 79
Int: 56

Fencing/Swords/Macing: 98
Mining: 70
Tactics: 70
Anatomy: 70
Hiding: 70
Archery: 70
Resist: 70 (Starts at 50)
Healing: 70 (Starts at 50)
Magery: 56
Meditation: 56

It provides a very basic and simple means of income, yet has the flexibility for generic adventuring. Definetly *not* recommended for 1v1 pvp, but more of a "gentler" touch of squad ganking/defence with 3v1 odds minimum. If you play casually with a bunch of others, more then likely a gank squad is easier to get a hold of, so it should suit the play style well.

Think outside of the box, the cat box miner was buried at the bottom of it...we all know mockery is the sincerest form of flattery.

For a resource gatherer I use this

Mining
Lumberjacking
Stealth
Hide
Magery
Meditation 60
Wrestling
Tracking 40

all overland mobs can be wiped out by blade spirits and energy vortexes otherwise its good to track anyone in the vicinity that may pop up when you pop the gate back to your homestead or secure the area you are laboring in (but moreso if you are doing it near high player activity such as dungeons or other hotspots like gathering wood near mare spawns). 60 med is more then enough ample. 100 strength, 40 dex 85 intel... the extra dex helps for overencumberance. Other then that you want at least enough intel for an EV/BS/summoned Daemon, and a gate/recall. For this character you would be carrying alot so 100 strength is a better choice. I shouldn't have to say this but make sure this character is on a seperate account of your crafter so you can smelt as his assistant in an overnight macro. Though you could sell your wares even at NPC's recalling about to make even more of a return then the ingots you would have gotten in smelting except in the case of overnight macros where time is of the essence.

  There's my two coins for you forever newbs in need of Gold. To you others...be aware of the monsters you created. 7X GM's are only top of the pops in no magics or pots... just a forewarning... not everything is predictable

I know its hard to think about such chars when your all used to having multiple GM characters. Yet sometimes people like to just pop in, make a little money on simple tasks, play with friends and enjoy the game in not so serious tones.

Templates like these are perfect for those class of players, it cuts down the cost of playing in terms of time and worry (overnight macroing) and they are also usually very cheap to assemble (gold wise) while providing quite a bit of versatility in what you can do.

Most newbies make new characters to try and give themself a "fresh start" if they have messed up socially (In their eyes). They usually arn't aware of the effectiveness of having multiple characters unless they are a seasoned MMORPG type and suprisingly UOSA has not attracted the latter when it comes to new players. Most of the new people I have met here have never played UO at all before!

I would predict that if the shard community focused more on the casual approach to having fun and pushed more generic and versitile templates, we would end up having and keeping more newbies then we do now.

Alright I'll bite: any specific reason for 79 DEX, 56 INT? And not something like 80/55? or 85/50?

Its an attempt at aligning it with the INT/Mana requirements for casting 4 * 5th Circle spells.

I haven't used magery in a long time myself so I wasn't sure if the wiki was correct or not, seems to say something about requiring 14 INT.

If I read it incorrectly, or the wiki was wrong, I would probably adjust it, yes.

Don't forget you're regaining mana in between those castings. Especially with 56 Meditation. So you might be able to get away with 50 or so INT.
