Another resist threat
Another resist threat
So does this still work at all to GM resist? Or is the best way just self/alt casting?
1. Go to Wind and other towns with mages, hire every npc mage (100 gp ea).. you should be able to rack-up 30+ the first trip and they will continue to spawn if you go back later for more.
2. Mark a rune 1 tile outside guard-zone in an area where you can throw an explode pot at them without getting guards called on you.
- I suggest the southern entrance to Delucia, just outside the gate.
3. Place 4 boxes around the area you marked the rune so you can trap the mages
4. Gate all of the mages on to that spot, then teleport out of that spot to your safety zone
5. Setup a healer bot with 1k bandaids 1 tile away from you, further toward guard zone.
6. Gather some lesser explode pots, only really need 1 though
7. Huck an explode potion at them, each attack will do 1 damage as you are in town but they are not, though you still gain resist.
8. When you get to 20hp, backup 1 tile and auto-cure and auto-heal, then step forward again.
2k bandage @ 3gp ea, 30mages @ 100gp each = 9k gold to gm resist in a single-night - you will level the mages as you go, the further you go the higher their intel and magery levels get. You could macro all of this and just watch tv, though be sure to trade-out the boxes every 10 min or so with your healer or another alt or they will decompose. Mages will eventually 'go wild' from lack of pay, but will still attack you.
Get enough mages (not hard), and this is FAR faster than self-casting or using a single alt, or even standard resist sessions - 30 flamestrikes/ebolts/explosions at a time and you will gain consistently to GM.
Want to make it even quicker, self-cast cure before the healer bandaids you up an you can get back in the fight quicker.

Wrong. You can GM resist in town.Bobcat Brown wrote:can't get resist gains in town
I loosely read the OP, and yes, that will work just fine with mages in wind. I recommend getting 100 of them for optimal gains.

And also let Rose know when you plan on doing this.......

This old exploit is era accurate and has been on here since the first year the shard opened.
Still surprises me how many people are unaware of it, lol.

I'm not gonna lie, purple potting 100 mages would be really really funny.LudKrud wrote:And also let Rose know when you plan on doing this.......

Re: Another resist threat
This does currently work, although it shouldn't. From the 2/24/99 patch notes:
For clarification, in the demo it is already impossible to gain resist while you (the victim) are standing inside town. However, it is still possible to gain resist on the demo while you are standing outside of town and your attacker is standing inside town. This patch note directly reflects a change to that.It will not be possible to learn magic resistance in towns.

A change that has been noted many times in the past here but still has not been reflected with any fix on here so far.Kaivan wrote:This does currently work, although it shouldn't. From the 2/24/99 patch notes:

The z axis bladespirit and energy field bug should exist based on our time frame but it doesn't. Seems a bit ironic that we have an out of date resist bug while excluding the era accurate one that does not exist, lol.
Re: Another resist threat
I've been doing resist for the last week+ and I'm still only at 96.2. The gain is a complete joke, I only got to 81.1 and I'd GM'd magery, even on OSI servers the gain was higher than here. I can't prove it, but I know that I wasn't macroing 24/7 for weeks to GM resist. I'm burning a 1000 FS regs for a .2 gain (if I'm lucky). I reakon I'll GM healing on my secondary before I GM resist at this rate...
Re: Another resist threat
Been macroing constantly from last post, burnt another 600 FS regs for a grand total of 0.0 gain. This is a joke.
