Paralyze Spell

What is the reason this spell does not interrupt other spells?

Don't say "Era accuracy"... I would like to know what evidence the Paralyze spell on UOSA is currently based.

First circle debuff's can interrupt spells even if they don't work (fizzle animation because current target is already under a similar effect) and they don't do any damage, yet still interrupts spells.

Is this a solid mechanic? or perhaps grey area? needing more research?

I'm so frustrated.

Similar thread on resisting Paralyze, yet the interruptibility is not discussed...

Paralyze should do 1 damage unless the target is currently casting, in which case it shouldn't work at all as the target is already (frozen). Aside from memory of this 100% being the case (and all throughout UO:R), I'm sure it's backed up on the demo and other sources.

The first point (para doing 1 damage) is not in effect on UOSA.

The paralyze spell effect was null upon targeting a mobile that was casting. Thus, the reason it did not call the interruption function on the target.

There were a few other spells that would not produce the effect upon targeting the mobile. Explosion spell would be null upon targeting someone that already had the script attached to them when trying to target someone back to back with the spell.

The issue with paralyze was very common during '98 and '99 after the casting delays was implemented in early '98. Using the paralyze spell on a target that was casting recall was utterly pointless when PKing or PvPing in general.

I know this is a null statement on this shard, but I will give it a shot.

For era accuracy purposes, I would like to state that "I remember" you could paralyze someone who was casting a spell. I also want to include that if you paralyze someone who was already paralyzed, the paralyze would reflect and you to, meaning the caster, would also become paralyzed.

That's interesting Sir Trammelite!

I like your memories better the nightsharks.

I'm trying to find something in the old newsgroups postings that has anything to say about this topic.... its a bit difficult at the moment.
