Rares data base?

I was thinking, with the release of all these rares, maybe we could start building a rares data base?

Back in the day Markeedragon had a huge data base of all the rares. The list complied of daily, (spawning and nonspawning), seer, unique, reward and Bug items. The list had pictures of about 90% of what was out there. It also included information for where the rare was spawned and in many cases on really rare or unique items the last known owner. On the seer items they often included the shard and history around the event where it came from.

Now I'm not saying what Markee had was perfect or the best around, but it was a damn good list put together. I was wondering if we could start putting together something like this, not a thread but an actual data base. Would be great to know all the rares out there, and a picture to go with them. Also for events that happen, would be great to have information on the items that were given out and the history surounding them.

Is there any interest out there to get this ball rolling? I would love to work on this with other members, gathering the information and history behind these items. Would be a great thing to have and I think would be greatly enjoyed by the player base.

I'd really been hoping since the beginning that someone would do this. Even if not the locations, at least a pictrial list of what out there.

It's really not that hard, though I don't know how you would want to go about it. There's a small pool of information already available through the thread in the news forums...and I can tell you where I got my stuff.

Well, there is still alot of sites out there that still have rares info, though most haven't been updated in years. We could pull alot of information from there. I really wish Markee still had his up, it was a real nice site.

I figure we could do something like Markee. We could have the rares listed. When you click on the rares name, would shoot you to another page that would have a picture of the rare. Along with that we could have the info listed, such as location, amount spawned and if possible the known or last known owner.

As far as picture, just simply take one in game of the item in the location spot and crop the picture. I don't mind doing or helping on the leg work and getting the info.

When I get home later tonight I will throw one together as to what rares on this server as of my knowledge. I will put it in the guides section.

I have only been here for 10 days but I have 23 of the server birth rares and have seen quiet a bit out there.
I will need other people to throw in what else is out there so I will make a double post to save room for the future.

be nice if you put current owner on each of the rares that will be listed ... that way if someone wants to sell/buy, contact information is public knowledge

It might be cool to list what items are out there, and the owner etc.

But the location? Hell no.

If you want to know the location, go find it yourself. I know the true rare collectors on this shard would be PISSED if the list got published, especially when they have spent countless hours finding them.

Wouldn't this kind of defeat the whole rare part of it? Are people starting to get a little greedy after too many free goodies now? First we get xmas presents from santa that everyone did on all their characters and then all the server birth rares which i thought was pretty stupid and poorly announced so you ended up seeing a few select people with like 30 rares that dont spawn so are basically uniques and now people want all the locations just handed out to everyone? how is that rare? This would just make people camp spots with alt characters idling out instead of doing something. If people want rares let them look for them or trade for them and work for them on their own.

The thing is that most of the birth rares have already been found, it's not like they spawn, so the location of them doesn't really matter....

I also think it's kind of bogus the way that the whole "server birth" thing went down when you see 5 people with sell lists dozens of items long.

meh let people that have the money spend it.
the gold sink is nice and having more items out there other than craftables is nice.
it also spices up the trading forum and the economy.
