I searched and searched, found nothing on it.

Can you GM alchemy, or at least get to reliable Greaters, on purple potions?

I have no use for the other potions.

You can GM off Greater Poisons, which require 55.1 min skill to make.

Greater explosions require 65.1 min skill to make, so I'd be reasonably sure you could GM alchemy from making them.

Making a bit of a guess from looking at the wiki potion chart & alchemy skill gain guide, and comparing poison to explosions.

For poison the recommendation is -

Alchemy Skill Levels
0-45 Lesser Poison
45-65 Poison
65-GM Greater Poison

And explosions are 10 to 20 points harder to make per level, so I'd try Lesser Explosion to about 50-55. Regular to about 75-80. Greater from there to GM.
