Taking bets on the Superbowl!

Post by mrbojangles »

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: -2.5
New York giants: +2.5

updated: 2/2 10pm

25k Max bet. 2:1 Payout. 10% Fee.

Taking bookie-style bets on the superbowl. I'll discuss the details further down.

First let me give credentials. I've been taking bets on the regular season games all year, and have handled ~650k in gold so far this season. I've been playing here for 3 years without ever having a single accusation made against my name.
Now that that's out of the way....

Rules: Bets will be accepted as replies in this forum post, or pm's in irc. When placing bet please say how much your are betting, which bet you are taking, and what the spread is at the time of betting. Payout structure is 2:1 payout, with an initial 10% fee on all bets. I reserve the right to alter the spread at anytime to meet changing demans in action, but initially the spread will be based on Vegas numbers. If the spread does change, only new bets will be effected by it, once you place your bet, your spread is 'locked in'. I reserve the right to refuse bets from players for whatever reason. Gold will not be collected or handed out until after the game, I hope that everyone who places a bet will willingly pay their debt if they lose, and I guarantee all wining bets will be honored.

How spread betting works: Currently New England is favored by 3 points (-3). Meaning, that for the final score, New England will have 3 points deducted. Therefore in order for New England to cover the spread, they must beat the giants by more than 3 points. So a winning final score for New England would need to be NE: 21 NY: 17. If New england were to score 20 over new yorks 17, that would be a push and all bets and fees are cancelled. Please feel free to comment if this wasn't clear.

Prop Bets:

SUPER BOWL XLVI - First Scoring Play of the Game
Wager will be official once either team scores first.

New York Giants - Passing Touchdown +275
New York Giants - Rushing Touchdown +650
New York Giants - Defensive or Special Teams Touchdown +1600
New York Giants - Field Goal +350
New York Giants - Safety +6000
New England Patriots - Passing Touchdown +275
New England Patriots - Rushing Touchdown +600
New England Patriots - Defensive or Special Teams Touchdown +1600
New England Patriots - Field Goal +400
New England Patriots - Safety +6000

Will either team successfully convert a 4th down attempt?
Game must go 55 minutes for action. Overtime counts towards wager.

Yes (4th Down Converted) -230
No (4th Down Converted) +190

Team to Score First in the Game
Wager will be official once either team scores first.

New York Giants (Score First) -125
New England Patriots (Score First) -105

Who will have the longer rush in the game?
Both must play for action.

Ahmad Bradshaw (NYG) RB -160
BenJarvus Green-Ellis (NE) RB +130

How do prop bets work?
Prop bets use the "money line" system of sport betting.

Hypothetical:

Chicago Cubs +120
Los Angeles Dodgers -130

In this instance, the Dodgers are the favored team, as signified by the - (minus) written in front of the 130, while the Cubs are the underdogs, as designated by the + (plus) in front of the 120.

What these numbers mean is that those wishing to bet on the favorite, the Dodgers, will have to risk $130 to win $100, while those wanting to wager on the underdog, the Cubs, will risk $100 to win $120.

It's important to remember that even though money lines are expressed in units of $100, you do not have to bet that much money. The money line will work just as easily with a $5 or $10 wager as it does with a $100 bet.

Yea, at that time literally 95% of the money in the pot was for the patriots. I've set the spread back to reflect vegas now, as the action has evened out. Pot over 200k now.

..
Don't forget to check out the prop bets, up to 600:1 payouts.

ill do 25k on pats -2.5, been waiting for that line.

I really wanted to take the giants when you had it at 6.5 but I'm a huge pats fan and I feel like it would be a jinks to bet on the giants in any fashion.

I'll also take this prop bet:
Ahmad Bradshaw (NYG) RB -160

10k that he has more rushing yards than BenJarvus
