My provoker

Post by Tootles »

Ok I have started a provoker. I currently have GM music , GM provo, 62 med, 51.8 mage. I am wondering what other skills to have on her. I have no money at the moment to train mage so what else should I train? Oh I also have some peacemaking in there to but no sure if It is worth the points.

Just mark a rune to destard, mark a rune to a bank, go there and kill/loot dragons. Build up enough to get a large house to macro in, then finish your other 3 skills. Or get a small and use a restock macro.

This would work if I had a full mage book or mark and recall scrolls. I seen a vendor selling full books but they were 5k and I only have 1k

Mark/Recall aren't that expensive...

You can always just DL UOAM and run there too...horses are 550.

Tootles, send me a PM, or better yet, go over to the 'Guides' board and get set up on IRC and message me there.

I'll get you set up with everything you need to establish yourself here.

Damn I wish I would have known someone to help me out when I started on the server...I spent days macroing inscription and fishing off the dock in brit selling boots to get enough money to get situated.

But yeah, start a character with 50 magery and 50 inscription and macro lightning scrolls till you have enough money to buy whatever you want. Instant money maker.

I suggest hiding instead of wrestling.
Hiding is so much help when running away from monsters and pks. Always have magic reflect on and have a hotkey for recall so basically when u see a pk he wil cast on u and it will reflect giving you time to recall and if not you can run and hide then he will reveal and then you can recall while he is casting.
Its not hard to get away from pks.

I wouldn't even consider choosing wrestling over hiding. In my opinion no bard should go without it.

As aXe mentioned, PK's are a bit of a nuissance for bards, and since your only option is to run from them, hiding will save your ass almost every time.

If this is your first char and only money maker, consider picking up swords as it is quite cheap and will increase your monetary gain by a great deal

After you have sufficient funds, make your mage.

Why would he need swords when he has a bard? All he has to do is provoke 2 dragons on each other, wait until they kill each other, finished up with a blade spirit, and loot.

Rinse Repeat he'll have 40k in no time.

He mentioned monetary problems, a dexer bard is as cheap as they come and would increase the time to topple 2 provoked monsters.

I'd say going mage-bard would be better in the long run. He could increase magery as he farms and still have income for other things.

100 Music, Provok, Mage, Med, Wrestling, Hiding, <blank> (healing, resist, or lockpicking)

Once that character has GM music, provok, 70 magery and decent hiding, it'll be easy to farm anything and GM the rest of the skills with time (don't even need to GM the resist, 90 is plenty for PVM)
