Anyone have a dell laptop with the Fn button?(razor hotkeys)

I have a Dell Studio 1555 Laptop and it appears I have to press and hold the Fn key and the F key I want to use in order to make (or use) a razor hotkey I put in it. It would really help if I could press just the F key I want instead of both of them, the problem is by default the F keys programmed with various functions already. For example F4 and F5 raise and lower the volume. It really should be I have to press a key to use THOSE functions not just the plain F key, is there a way to disable them so I don't have to press the Fn key at the same time?

Edit: should have posted this in the general questions forum, but anyway if anyone else is having the problem, what you need to do is hit F2 while the system is booting up and change the option to use F keys first.

I found this reply on the Ubuntu forums for your laptop : http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1184539

I'm not familiar with that laptop but try changing it in the BIOS.

Go into your BIOS -> Advanced -> Function Key Behavior -> Function Key First

Hope this helps.
