Looking for a definitive answer.

Post by Makar40 »

I would like to know if the 3d client works with this shard. I have searched the forums and gotten both yes and no answers. Asking in IRC has been pointless because when I ask, all I am told is basically "Dont bother that client sucks". No offense but Im not asking for people's opinions on whether it looks good or not. Im asking if it works here and if its allowed. I dont mean that Iris client either. I mean the 3d client released for the live game.

Anyways, I would appreciate an answer if anyone is able to give one. Thanks alot, I've been having a blast playing here!

Fairly sure that 3d client does not work with this shard. Our client only goes so far for a reason.

I don't think it would work at all. If it does work, it's going to have so many problems, it wouldn't be worth it. If you use any client version other than the one you download on the UOSA site, you will run into many issues while you play, such as your character getting stuck in the most inopportune places.

People call for GM help all the time because they got stuck in the middle of a dungeon because they won't DL the UOSA client.

You CAN indeed use the 3D client on UOSA. We; however, do not support it. The 3D client uses the same communication protocol as the 2D client. The server would not know the difference. The problem, though, is that Razor recently stopped supporting the 3D client, so you will have to find another program to act as an intermediary.

Im not sure what the 3d client has to do with leet hacking. I hope you werent infering that I would somehow be cheating by using that client, as Im new to all this and dont know about leet hacking with the 3d client lol.

I'd say just use the 2d client. It's better, I promise.

Oh I see, my apologies. I was under the impression that you couldnt play without Razor or something to that effect. To that effect, if Razor no longer supports the 3d client, does anyone know what program is out there that would allow me to play but also supports the 3d client?

You can play without Razor. It's just an inconvenience. So many people here use Razor that if you play without it, you put yourself at a disadvantage against the rest of us.

If you can find another (legal) program like it that works with your 3D client, great! People will tell you until they are blue in the face to use our client and to use Razor and that you have to afk macro your character's skills up that anything you do to the contrary is pure blasphemy against the UO Gods. lol. Don't let us tell you how you should experience UO. Do what works for you, as long as you don't break the shard rules.

Let us know how well the 3D client works, and if you find another Razor-like program that works with it. I'd be interested to hear about it. :D
