yeah ingame racism is something gms "even derrick" wont do anything against. they will tell you to ignore them.

as an immature kid back in the day i went on some racial tirades just to get a reaction out of people. i've been squelched but never banned or threatened to be banned.

Since this isn't really actionable...anyone know his alts/housing locations?

I've seen him hunting at Hyth Balron and Destard, typically mid morning (like 8-9am) EST.

Just some kid getting a rise out of you guys - seems to be producing the results he wishes.

Got to realize when someone spouts an orgy of racial slurs online usually the comments are for the shock of racism - not for his own personal beliefs. Best you can do is ignore him and leave it at that. Open forum posts produce the results he wishes and justifies his shock value.

I'm not personally offended, and I don't really have anything further to prove...considering I hopped on my main and gave him a beating he'll not soon forget right after I grabbed these pics. However, I don't think public scorn and ridicule is high on anyone's list of priorities, but I'm hoping that's where this thread lands him. Because I feel this particular griefer is worth it.

Banning people for racism is a policy decision by the admin. It was handled differently on every shard on OSI.
Some gms were hard cases and some were lenient.

No. I asked a simple question, and there were no tears...only cold calculation.

There has always been people who were racist on ultima online. And also many people who are not even racist but still use racial slurs. There's nothing you can do about it. It doesn't matter how many people you report or try to get punished there will always be more. And the game is great for giving that kind of freedom to say what you want. As for people using racial slurs you just need to ignore them. If they are to mad, bored, or stupid enough to be using racial slurs to get their message across they are not worth the time to begin with.

Seriously though, only ignorant retards use racism for anything except jokes.

i lent my account to a friend who played USA hours vs my NZ hours during t2a... he dropped the N-bomb on someone and my account was insta banned with no warning. but reasons for banning on UOSA are not the same reasons for bans on OSI, it's not part of the "accuracy" we have.

just put people on ignore if you dont like their speech.

Racism is a social issue.

This shard does not social engineer era accuracy and that is well known here. That means this falls under a policy issue and not era accuracy for obvious reasons. Social engineering is not possible to re-create in the first place because you can't 'replicate' the exact pyschology of any given person(including the OSI staff) from the game back then. The 'ignore' option in game was placed there for a reason and it resolves this issue in an instant.

P.S.
During OSI days a friend of mine got hit by a 24 hour ban for saying 'porch monkey' and my account received a warning when saying 'here comes the japs' in deceit when a few Jopok(JpK) came running up from the Lich Lord room towards the pit room.
