What better stats for a Mage Bard?

You got it. The only real variation is what I call a "thunter" bard for Tmaps, you swap wrestling for hiding. Pretty much gimps the build though as you will get smoked in dungeon areas where PK's hunt with - wrestle. Great for Tmaps though.

I have that template except I have hiding instead of resist. I do this because I only hunt in dungeons and find it better to hide in a corner with Magic Reflection up. Wrestle is the key to escaping in that situation because their spell doesn't disrupt you and you have a good chance of avoiding their hit.
