Murder scenario

Ok I was out and about macroing my stealing skill, when I cam back to my computer I was dead and my packy was no where to be found. Now, I was at a place where there is no possible way spawn could have killed me, so my question is why wasn't I given the option to report this person for a murder? I have not yet joined the thieves guild so there is no reason why I should not have been given the opportunity to report this scoundrel who committed this dreadful crime. Any suggestions?

i could be wrong on this, but i was under the impression that everytime you successfully steal something, you go perma gray. meaning you appear blue, but when you get attacked, you turn gray from attempting/succesfully stealing. although im not sure if you needed to be in the thiefs guild for perma gray to come into effect, but it might not be needed.

I would have lured spawn to you if I wanted you dead without taking a count. So thats possible. Tame a hostile critter (dragon, mare, hell hound), release it near you and hide. Then retame it or kill it, whichever.

You only go perma grey when you steal from a blue.
You need to be in the thiefs guild to steal from a blue.

Depending on how your macro was set up, it may have closed the murder reporting gump.
