How long does an item remain on the ground

Would be useful to hide some runes/regs/etc someone so I can get them if I die. Even if I can't, after I get another mage on another account GM'd, I can have him hanging out hiding somewhere nearby to res my other characters.

Two hours is the minimum for non newbied items. Time before decay then increases with the weight of the item left on the ground, but I have no idea of any specific figures.
Bear in mind if you leave a mage sitting AFK somewhere that a lot of PKs have tracking skill and can easily reveal.

well said that part

very accurate information and yes the heavier the better
to the original poster if you have alt capable of rezing you could just cast a gate to a spot near were you died ( premarked) and walk threw on ghost - rez - walk back-try to loot your self depending on how you died

What is the difference between blessed and newbied, I'm guessing newbied means temporarily blessed, but until when/what happens?

But do they just usually use it when they are out roaming around? Or when they have just seen someone and are specifically tracking them, say they saw someone run past them and are now in pursuit.

Didn't think of this, of course the alt would need magery and med. In T2A reds were killed on sight by the guards when they entered towns (cept Bucks) right? Not just when the guards were called on them, so gating to a city would seem to work well, they can't come after me through the gate unless they want to get guard whacked.

Newbied and blessed are pretty much the same except that newbied items don't stay with you if you die when red, they drop onto your corpse. Also newbied items decay very quickly (couple of minutes tops) if left on the floor. All the items a new character starts out with are 'newbied', hence the name.
But do they just usually use it when they are out roaming around? Or when they have just seen someone and are specifically tracking them, say they saw someone run past them and are now in pursuit.
Some PKs will roam around hitting their tracking skill regularly to find players, as GM tracking can 'see' a lot further than the range of what's on their screen.

Gating to your house would probably be easier if you have one, an AFK gater left in town is still vulnerable to attack - Nowhere outside of certain parts of a locked house should be considered a safe area.
I'm not sure if guards do insta whack reds on sight without being called, anyone?

you have to call guards if no npcs do and you could restock a gate scroll out of your bank on a hotkey macro

Can they track me even if I haven't left "tracks?" Suppose I recall from vesper to some other point outside a town, there should be no tracks. In order for them to track me they'd have to follow a set of footprints/tracks I've left, and since I didn't walk/ride to the location I'm at there should be none they can zero in on.
Of course, I'm guessing tracking may not work like this, it lets you know where a person is or near, just by their current location, not tracks they have actually left.

This part is right.

Pretty sure the minimum time for an item to decay is less than 2 hours. Definitely had to move boxes more often than that in HH before they decayed, unless it has been changed in the last 6 months.
I've accidentally left a bag in my courtyard with a high # of stones, it survived overnight after server went down during the move. So they can last a very long time with a very heavy weight.

Put 20-30 raw ore in a bag and you'll be good for a while, though not exactly sure how long a "while" is but its definitely more than 2 hours.

Well, as long as I put a few guards lines into my macro I should be ok. Within the guard zone, if anyone tries to attack me, as I understand it and the guards are called, they'll get whacked. The only thing I'd have to worry about is say a Dexxer thief trying to steal from me, and that's if the thief never gets caught trying to steal from me, in that case- I can't call the guards can I? I know they'll be grey to me if they tried (and succeeded to, or just tried?) to steal from me, but do you have to actually get a system message saying they were caught to call the guards, or do they just have to be Grey?

You can only guard whack a thief if they were "caught" trying to steal it. If they steal unnoticed, you can't guardwhack them, however they will become perma grey so you can attack them.

And at GM stealing how often do they get caught? It also depends on how many people are around right? What if it's just you and him, say he tries to steal 20 seperate things out of your pack.

It depends on the players stealing skill & the weight of the item they're trying to steal.
If you check the Guides section of the forums you should be able to find a post explaining how to use the Restock Agent & your bank to prevent being stolen from while afk macroing in town/at a bank.
