Thinking about finishing my Pure Dexer

Post by Maehix »

Was thinking anat/healing/fencing/tacitcs/resist/parry/hiding or tracking but im wanting to know if tracking can track oranges like people you are at war with/chaos and order. Otherwise im leaning to hiding.

I would ditch parry and go with both. Personally, I love gm tracking.

It can, but not as a separate option.

Use tracking skill > Choose from Animals, Humans, Monsters > Receive list of those in range, with their names if applicable.

I have some tracking (30-50) on most of my chars, it's really handy to know who and what is around the area you're in.

You can ask anyone whose fought the orcs how useful tracking is...and hiding.

One question to ask yourself is why you want hiding. Is it to escape or to ambush/log? You may be able to get away with 60 hiding/40 tracking...and keep parry.

If you want to to break LOS and escape, then GM may be useful.

By the by...maybe ya should give that dexxer an orc name *wink*

My fencer's build willl be:
gm melee skill
gm tactics
gm anatomy
gm resist
gm hiding (at the momemt 80 hiding, but that sucks. I fail too much)
79.9 magery (for buffs, trapping pouches, cure, greater heal and what not)
20.1 tracking (enough to track your area)

I assume the 7th skill would be healing. Looks solid, I'd just drop magery to 60 (maybe even 50) and get more tracking.

Tracking is nice, but with 70.1 magery you can cast spells like g-heal, and recall w/o fail. Also I like to be able to cast magic reflect on myself. Otherwise you'd need to carry scrolls.

I can confirm that when orcs break LOS and hide during a heated battle it is a pain in the ass ;)

Aye, but 40 or so tracking and a purple pot are your friends.

most of the time that hide is just for a bandage to kick in....very useful when you cant cast heal.

I don't like parry simply because I think it's unhandy when it comes to drinking pots and because in my eyes it's only nice against other warriors and not tank mages. I might be wrong but the insta-hit of tank mages can't be avoided with parry. That's why I went with magery. Also you can't use two handed weapons with parry.... since you need to use a shield.

Pirul: yes I forgot to put gm healing in that list :)

Nothing is technically "avoided" with parry, but many hits are reduced to zero. In fact, with an invulnerable suit of armor and an invulnerable shield, GM Parry will almost certainly end up reducing the damage of the 50% of hits it blocks down to zero. Thing is, an invulnerable suit of armor will get you most of the way there anyways.

The worst way to die, in my opinion, is due to the one-second action delay. I.E. needing to chug a potion and having to wait 1 second to unequip your two-handed weapon or your shield first. It aggravates me to no end.

If you don't plan on having minimum 40 AR (without shield), a +tactics power/vanq weapon, tons of potions, tons of trapped pouches and greater healing wands.... I wouldn't even think about going on the field!
