Some new old school players

Post by Proteus »

Hi there!

Myself and 2 of my rl friends that played atlantic around 97-2000 (Ruckus and Simon Darkbane) have started up recently and are well into being do r wih our macro phase. :)

I'm looking to check Out the community and get a feel for the place before committing to a Mage (my dexer will be done soon) and was hoping to get a feel for the shard before trying to accumulate the gold needed to make a Mage.

I'd probably be interested in a rp type guild that also does pvp. I used to play a red but rp assassin in Rivendell on ATL and loved the playstyle but the stat loss was a real bummer.

So anyways, just saying hi, 3 rl homies moved here and are loving the era.
I think the only things I miss are cutting stacks of cloth into bandages in one click instead of macroing it, and my friend ruckus misses snooping while stealthed. :)

See ya ingame!! (and looking for guild :) )

There don't seem to be many RP guilds...though if you want roleplay and pvp, the Bloodrock orcs may be for you. Our webpage shows where our fort is...and we currently own the city of Cove becaues the humans failed to defend it during a seer quest ^_^

I let Cove fall....sorry. I kept getting jipped by thieves. Traitorous scum!

I actually really thought about joining the orcs but my name is Proteus and it's not exactly an Orc name. I was actually talkin wih my brother abou that yesterday when I said, "I wonder if they'd buy that he is a half Orc raised by humans but always shunned and has decided to see the other half of his heritage". My brother lolled and said likely not. But the character will be like 5x gm shortly and was looking forward to playing instead of macroin another week. :)

Guess I'll look around though, are all the orcs red?

Well...do you like shinies and do you eat horse while it's still alive? you may be a candidate for orcs!

Nah, we don't really do the half-orc thing. Though if you were to make an alternate orc character, it probably wouldn't be too hard to macro up (and in fact you don't even have to be GM..any 'noob' char can krimp (surround/block) a human and be useful.

Historically, we were a chaos guild and never red. Here, due to a lack of order guilds, we went with a non-chaos red approach. Many of us are red, and we try to manage our murder counts, though not all of us are.

Guardian...ive found that cutting open umie armies and eating the jerky is better than horse meat...sadly, im not a very good cook and for some reason orcs can't eat horse meat :-/

Ah well it was worth a shot. I'll keep looking around, I like to have my stealth dexer and Mage crafter and rarely have time for much else. :(

I look forward to meeting you on the battlefield!!! You can take my bandaids and gm weapon but you can never take my freedom!

BTW, if you are really interested in the bloodrock, you can pretty much hit a 5x GM in 1 or 2 days. Its really not difficult. I'm sure there are quite a few orcs who would help you with training and supplies. I, for example, have been macroing resist...so id happily let you repeatedly heal me for some easy gains.

Thanks it sounds fun to me. I'm good on supplies since I can sell crafted junk to vendors, not rich by any stretch certainly can't support a Mage yet but dexxers are easy. :)

I'll give it some consideration, thanks. :)

Update!!!
So Robbb was kind enough to supply a house for us and we have been so appreciative for that, thank you Robbb!

I got my bard/Mage working now and should be making more a presence in the next couple days. We havent really looked at joining in guilds yet as I think once we start exploring more of the world and less of razor macros we will see who all is out there.

We friggin love this shard.

Edit:
I kind of feel bad for poor Ja Rule, the pk at glow gate. Right when he got done macron off his counts yesterday he got me right as I hit the guard zone, and apparently the guards noticed and took him down. My dexxer appreciates the armor and cya in 24 hours!!

Regarding an RP/PvP guild:

viewtopic.php?f=21&t=28606

I came here a few weeks ago looking for the same thing. Last week some players from Spain also came and mentioned something about looking for the same thing, not sure where they went.

I gave up on an RP guild for now (wanted an evil-RP-PvP guild), but I joined WL as I felt they were the most active on the server. It's worth mentioning that earlier this year they apparently maybe a big push for a WL-RP guild called UND, which I wasn't here for. Once I get more active in WL and know it better I would be all in favor of trying something like that again for the long run (as indicated in that thread I linked), if enough old and new players are interested.

I personally would love to see more guilds like that. Back on Atlantic before my siege days my bro Richter Darkbane and myself ran with ELF and warred against UND and ORC. Those were some of my fondest memories of UO.

I'd likely be interested in starting up some guild type like that; we could war other rp guilds so being red wouldnt be a requirement to play the evil side.
