Healing aggressive grey monsters does not result in criminal

I was killing some lowly monsters (rat men and mongbats, specifically) and accidentally healed them instead of myself. Instead of triggering the gump asking if I want to continue with the criminal activity, it simply healed them and I was still blue.

I managed to duplicate this several times. Oddly, if I try to cure them (even if they are un-poisoned, the warning gump comes up). Then when I immediately try to heal them after canceling the heal spell, I get the warning gump again.

If you attack them before they aggro you, they are not criminal. Grey does not always indicate criminal.
