Anyone know if the ability for war forks to ignore armor is going to be implemented? I think that would swing the debate way into favoring fencing.

venox, poisoning is a valid topic of discussion in this thread, IMO. It is one of the big benefits of Fencing/Swords over Macing. To just dismiss it here--implying it is not relevant--is counterintuitive.

At the moment, I am leaning more towards Fencing, myself. The way I see it -

Fencing:

1) Faster attacks = more chances to disrupt casting and/or aids
2) DP (directly deadly/psychological effect), countered by GC pot
3) Short Spear = highest DOT for a 2h

Fencing does its damage via quick attacks that do somewhat lower damage (on average). This lends itself to mean that a miss is not as detrimental than missing when wielding a Macing weapon. Also, the potential for war forks to ignore armor is there.

Macing:

1) Higher damage attacks (on average)
2) Stamina Drain (indirectly deadly/psychological effect), countered by TR pot
3) Armor Damage (somewhat indirectly deadly/psychological effect)

Macing does its damage via slow attacks that do somewhat higher damage (on average). This lends itself to mean that any given hit has a better chance of being a killing blow (if the enemy is at lowish HP), but missing is more detrimental than compared to missing with a Fencing weapon. Also, if you are planning to lewtz your opponent after you kill him, Armor Damage with Macing can be somewhat of a "con" since you've probably severely damaged (if not destoryed) portions of his armor.

yea i know it is a factor.
i wrote those wiki's
i was just reading into blackfoots intension for saying what he wrote.

macing aint bad. and the q-staff is pretty quick.

but like you have said they both have pro's and con's, so the choice is yours, just make two characters with each.

and dont worry about armour damage, when you have a smith just repair it...
