The Brethren Of The Coast Sail!

Post by Judas Serpentis »

As you push open the door into the Crossroads as you do each night, the smell of alchohol permeated the air. Oh, it did so every night, but believe it or not tonight it was more so. The door swings wide and you walk in, and immediately notice the ragged crowd scattered throughout the bar amongst the much less numerous regulars. He noticed many of the men had the look of sailors, but with dangerous glints in their eyes, and dangerous wepons at their sides. Scattered amongst these pirates were more exotic fellows, men from all over Brettonia. A huge bear of a man, garbed in the skins from some far off isle of ice no doubt, who grasped a huge hammer in a meaty paw, and a huge drinking horn nearly as big as the hammer in the other. A tall, thin, wicked looking man, whose robes marked him as some sort of mage stood gesturing obscenely at a fiery woman clad in leathers and on whose shoulder a parrot perched, and two wolves sat at her feet. As you near the bar you even spot an orc snorting in what orcs call laughter as he carves a name into his forearm with a rusty knife. Its only as you look to the floor and spot Valric, the butcher, lying in a pool of blood. The letters on the orcs forearm read VAL and if you were a betting man, you might just bet that the next letter on that arm would be an R. As you shudder and begin to turn away you notice the orcs flesh seems to be covered in scars, all seemingly names...You shake your head and suddenly notice several more...regal figures, if such men could ever be called such, sitting around a table. A large book stood open on the table, and a large quill sat next to it. A sign stood behind them which read :
The Brethren of The Coast Sail! The red ships seek all men of the sea with freebootin blood in their veins, from corsairs and cutthroats, to salt dogs and sea rats! Come, Sign the Articles and join the Brethren and consider yerself On The Account! Each man shall receive equal shares in plunder and fame!

A glass is pushed into your hand by one man, and you begin to drink as the crowd swirls you up in it. Somehow avoiding a fight here, and a flashing blade there, you somehow find yourself quite drunk, and with a grin on your face as you watch two men fight and one man die before you, all over a bit of spilled ale and a woman...A merry life and a short one you decide, thats the life for me! "I'll sign them there Articles Captain!" you shout!
