I haven't done treasure maps for a while, maybe even since OSI t2a, and am confused. I figured it would be easy for a level one, I had my fisherman who fished it up decode it (for which he required almost no cartography). I could plainly see the spot was for the West coast of Buccaneer's Den. I grabbed my dexer and tank mage and headed over there, and was running around double clicking a shovel and clicking the ground where I thought it should be and it kept saying "you cannot mine there." I didn't want to mine, I wanted to dig up treasure! Then I found some little rock places that I could mine at, and all I got every time was a lousy unit of ore and then it said "there is no metal to mine there." Again, not what I'm interested in.
So can you only dig on the exact spot the treasure is buried or am I missing something?
P.S. in rune libraries that have treasure map runebooks, how do you know which treasure map correlates to number 1, 2, 3 etc?
newbie treasure map question (can't mine there?)

Re: newbie treasure map question (can't mine there?)
You need to double click your pick-axe/shovel then target the t-map and then target the ground. You are very likely just double clicking the pick-axe and then the ground.
You do not need to dig on the exact tile.

Re: newbie treasure map question (can't mine there?)
I use this http://uo.stratics.com/thb/info/maparch ... ive1.shtml to find the exact location of the treasure. These are the numbers used in the rune libraries for the maps. As for digging up the treasure what Mrbojangles said is correct you have to double click your pickaxe\shovel then click the map and then the ground. You do not have to be in the exact location of the treasure but if you use the rune libraries you are usually fairly close or at the exact location.

Thanks guys that is what I was doing wrong. I was clicking all over, the map etc but never actually double clicking the shovel then the map then the ground.
