You could read books in bookcases.

For ideas on how to make Second Age a better shard. Can it get any better? Maybe.

You could read books in bookcases.

I'm positive that back in T2A, before, and after you could read the books that spawned in bookcases. Otherwise, what was the point? I used to read those things all the time and I know I wasn't having to steal them to read them.

I was in the Moonglow Lyceum today and every time I tried to read one of the books I got the "I can't reach that." message.

You used to be able to read them here if I am not mistaken. You certainly should be able to.

I know historically, you could read any book you found in Britannia or otherwise, but I'm talking about Ultima VII, Part two and U8.

guaranteed you could bc I used to read them thinking they had some secret code or game hints hidden in them.

There were also other items that spawned in various containers across the shard. In town guards ones had to be stolen but outside town guards you could usually just take if needed.

There werent any secret codes or anything as far as I know. They were just books about wisps and other UO lore.

Also supposedly* player written books (like that Darkwing one) should spawn in bookcases. Someone once told me you had to lock it down for this to happen. Never saw it but according to uo oddities it does.

"Book Authoring Write a book Lengthy player-written books will actually begin appearing all over Britannia on NPC shelves after a certain amount of time has passed."

Yeah, I saw a book by chumbucket in the Moonglow lycaeum, but of course I couldn't read it because this shard is broken.

Probably for the best. Opening the book would've likely blown you up.
