Yet Another Scourge Upon This Land…

An excerpt from the diary of Akari Moongate:
It was a quiet day at DG town. The Dungeon Guards got together at the training tower for fighting practices with Erzebet, she is the book of knowledge in the flesh. After watching a few duels, Akari got bored, since Wakani was not feeling like fighting and master Melryn was having too many wins (It gets to his head sometimes I think), I knew it made no sense fighting him that day, so I decided to go for a stroll down the new main road in town. Little did I know disaster was about to find me...

The valiant warriors of the dungeon guards were atop their tower overlooking the docks honing their skills and were discussing events of the day when a cry for help was heard off in the woods. “HELP ME!!” Erzebet had been asking for some time where her fellow guild mate Akari had went off to, and suddenly she had a sinking feeling in her gut as she ran to the edge of the woods along with Master Melryn and a group of Dungeon Guard warriors. At the road sign to the town they found a mount. “Its Akari’s mount,” Erzebet said gravely. “Look, it’s a note!”

An excerpt from the diary of Akari Moongate:
Suddenly I got knocked down from my mount and tied up by pirates. Then I was pushed into a moongate… It happened very fast… I could not defend myself at all… I’m not sure where I was at that time… there were pirates and orcs all around me…Pirates of Dark Water and friends no doubt…maybe Warlords…? They pushed me around and locked me up in a small house… very neat for such scum… They placed a Dragon to guard me so I would not escape… in an out came pirates and orcs… can’t really say which disgusted me the most…

It was a ransom note. Akari had been kidnapped by the pirates! They were holding her ransom and demanding a 20,000 gold booty for her safe return!

Immediately Melryn ran to his money lender and grabbed the cash while Erzebet looked desperately for guildmates. Helping carry the cash, Erzebet and Melryn headed for the docks to ready the ship to sail for Blanche Island. Several of the guild members had shown up, but where was the rest of the guild? Melryn’s face was grave indeed as he considered his numbers. “We cannot leave her to those dastardly villains!” Melryn shouted. “We set sail!” And so the Dungeon Guards set sail with a handful of their brethren. Little did they know, that Other brigands were attacking their fellow members. Little did they know what they, themselves, faced at Blanche Island.

An excerpt from the diary of Akari Moongate:
I tried to hear what they were saying about the Dungeon Guards progress… their comments brought no comfort to me something was not right.

As they neared the remote island, the Guards saw a horror awaiting them. Dragons, Daemons, Murderers, Brigands, War Lords, and Disgusting Urks were crowding the shore intent on making their small landing party a permanent stain upon the shores. The Guards knew they would need help and called upon C^V and IL to come to their captured comrades aid. They answered the call without hesitation!

Erzebet, exhausting herself, kept gate after gate open for the reinforcements to come through. Seeing the newcomers to the battle, the evil villains tempers got the best of them. Lusting for blood, but not their own, it was hard for the villains to hold a solid plan together with such varied backgrounds of corruption. So, they fled to the Pirates headquarters...

An excerpt from the diary of Akari Moongate:
Then it just hit me, the course of my fate was to change again, they decided to move me from that location to the pirates lair…The Dreaded Dragon Island! I managed to write a warning note to my Master Melryn, just in case…
They made me get on a ship… a very unpleasant sail indeed upon the tossing seas. Kander… was my vile escort… I will never hate someone like I hate him now… he had the guts to say he would make me his bride, that scoundrel… ‘Akari belongs to someone else’ - I said to myself- over and over…. That Kander, I called upon the gods of the seas to eat his foul soul up!!
After a long unsteady sail we were at the pirates’ lair… I was locked up on the roof inside a cage… the things they did to me are better off unsaid… I was out of hope… ready to give in to the disaster…

Seeing the pirates flee in their swifter ships, Melryn looked around frantically upon the shores of Blanche Island and a ray of sunshine came down landing in a trampled patch of grass. There in the patch of grass was a hastily scrawled note by none other than Akari Moongate, herself. Smiling, Melryn strode determinedly to the ship shouting, “All Follow Me! To Dragon Isle We Sail!”

Landing quietly on the shores of Dragon Isle…the Dungeon Guards, Company of the Vigilant, and the Immortal Lords flowed into the swamps of the isle towards the stronghold of the pirates. They were met by the Pirates, Warlords, and Urks along with dragons and foul magical beasts. The Urks were bellowing in rage a bunch of incomprehensible nonsensical sounds. The Warlords were screaming for blood. The Pirates were smiling slyly with a few “Harr Harr Harr’s”.

The battle was heated and it looked like the villains would have the field this day. Guards, Immortals, and Vigilants were falling all around. It was a dark day indeed. The Urks were lost in an utter blood-thirsty rage. The pirates were sloshed and consuming too many mugs of whiskey. The warlords were bragging of past victories and telling stories of death and pillaging. Poor Akari was starting to think she was doomed indeed. The tears began to flow. They were all enjoying themselves at her expense and the expense of the lives of her friends. So dark indeed…

An excerpt from the diary of Akari Moongate:
Surprise my fate changes again!! My blue caped heroes caught my eyes, I shouted with all my might so they knew where I was. Not only the Dungeon Guards, but they were backed up by some members of the Company of the Vigilant and the Immortal Lords, it was a memorable fight…
I got back on my feet, ready to escape. They finally got in the tower. Spells flew by, swords collided, demons, dragons!! It was a never ending storm… suddenly like trying to escape from a nightmare, I saw a light…

Storming the stronghold, those of the guard, company, and lords worked their way deeper inside seeking the captured Akari. They battled their way to the top and were unsure how to proceed. Taking a deep breath, Will Sinker looked at his friends and said “cover me”. He pre-casted a spell and took off running into the onslaught of arrows and spells without a care for himself. As he neared Akari he gestured and…

An excerpt from the diary of Akari Moongate:
A moongate summoned by one of my guild brothers, I reached out... I’m home… I’m safe…. Thanks to my Dungeon Guards… To our allies… Thanks to my Master Melryn Moonstone

Knowing that Akari was safe, and not wanting to test their good luck further, a retreat was called to regroup at the guild hall and see how the newly freed Akari was.

As they set sail for home, Melryn wandered down into the hold of the ship…to find it bare! The 20,000 gold piece booty! It was all gone and in its place was a note.

It read simply, “Harr Harr Harr!”

Awesome write up Smithy, it was like being right in the action! Very enthralling.

Yo ho ho. Never shall we die! Tis event was grand in all forms. I would like to thank all guilds that helped out. I cant wait to see what event is held next. A good sea battle should be in the mix.
